Wow. MikeySunshine, Josephus, Peep and Dipso went to Manchester TN for Bonnaroo and had a great time. There was so much going on and while you can't imagine what theat place is like, I will try to give you a brief insight in to what you missed by not joining us.
What is Bonnaroo? Well it is the music festival of our age. There are about 80,000 festival goers and probably double that number of other folks; security people, support staff, dirty hippies with no ticket and vendors. So imagine a city of almost a quarter million people, gathered for 4 days of music and fun in the Tennessee sun. The living section really is just a field that is loosley organized into roads and trails and camping pods. The festival took place in a more controlled area called Centeroo. Centeroo has all the time passing activities and music venues.
The things you could do at Centeroo include: watching one of the several dozen bands that played on the two main stages, three secondary tents, three longue tents, or two small stages. If you aren't in to live music, you could go to the arcade / discoteque and listen to a world class DJ spin his hits while you plunk quarters in to old timey games like Burger time, or you could play one of the several x-box 360s they had available, Or you could go to the silent disco. The silent disco also had a world class DJ spinning, but in order to hear it, you had to use the wireless headphones that they provided. If music ain't your thing, You could go to the Dolby Cinima and see various movies (including Rocky IV), sporting events ( USA world cup action, Miami Heat B-Ball finals) or documentaries (Spinal Tap). There was also a comedy tent with joke telling professionals. On Saturday and Sunday there were circus performers doing their acts over near the Ferris wheel.
The music was fantastic. I'm sure everybody who was there will give you a different report on the music, but most will aggree that it was great. In my mind the top acts were; G Love, Beck, Atmosphere, Tom Petty, Mike Doughty, and Phil Lesh.
The menu at Bonnaroo (Including Lunch) was mostly from Costco. We had pop tarts, granola bars and fruit coctail for breakfast. Lunch was Ham and turkey sandwiches, and dinner was generally chicken.
Bonnaroo was a good time and a great opportunity to meet some other OWFLers. I wish you could have been there. Oh well, maybe you'll be there in 2007 when we go with an RV and VIP tickents.
Since we're back to one post per day Please let us all know What's for Lunch today?
