Interviewin' Time

We have an interviewee in for interviewing. And we desperately need this guy, as we're short on peeps at the moment. Where do you take an interviewee for lunch? Somewhere fancy & get his hopes up that this company actually spends money on its employees? Somewhere utilitarian, so he knows what he's getting into, but may irritate him that he's not being 'wined & dined'? Or some other option? And WFL?

take this person to a place that doesn't make him/her think that you guys can expense everything and live some charmed life. best to start them low and then they can work themselves up. that's my thoughts...

Spare no expense and lie your ass off about how wonderful the work environment is. Seriously. It happens to everyone so why should he be spared.

I say take him where YOU want to go, since he's going to have to get used to being told what to do, er, managed.

Plus, then you get a decent free meal out of it on the company.

HT wins. Best advice I've heard.

My interview went well by the way. The dude showed up on time and had a pulse and is legally allowed to work in the US. That's really all I need.

You guys take interviewee's out to lunch? shit, that alone should seal the deal. That almost seems kinda weird though.

Take him to a strip club. They usually have good lunch specials and he'll think you guys are the coolest ever. Unless he's gay or mormon.

Wow, I really opened a can of worms on that one. I appreciate the posts, but it was all moot, b/c they had someone else take him out for lunch. Just as well. I never do well on dates, oops, I mean, interviews.

Although, now that I think about it, we have a new guy starting on Monday. They usually have someone take him out for lunch. I smell a post!

And Uni, sorry to trample on your post. Although I guess mine would technical be the 'side order' or whatever the hell we're calling it now. I can't believe only 1 person showed up for interviewing. WTF?? But did you at least get 4 free lunches out of the deal?

I guess the economy must be soaring if people are blowing off interviews. WTF for sure! Perhaps they were offered another job on the way to your interview

Treat yourself great. Don't pay any attention to him though. Hell invite some friends and tell the bean counter that you were introducing the person to the area.

Then when you get there pay no attention to the guy and esoterrorize them to death. If they can take that they may make it through the first 6 months of work.

Not many people showed up on OWFL, either. I had a bunch of fruit for lunch and probably will have more fruit and white wine for dinner. My back hurts.
