Side Order: Ides of June

Welcome to the ides of June!

So this is actually what they refer to as a lazy hazy day of summer. Where you couldn't really summon the self-riteous ferver to stab anyone to death or to even get your butt out of bed.

Do you realize that absolutely nothing is happening today? I should know I google(d)(TM) it. Many of us are on their way to a festival of lazy hazy fun and food. Leaving us behind in our drudgery. I for one am too lazy right now to even get jealous, but all of our(my) good thoughts are with them ... especially thoughts of roasted corn on a stick, hillbilly pot-stickers, and watermelon rum soaked cubes of watermelon ... mmmmmmm.

So on our day of lazy days ... What is for lunch folks?

not sure yet. i have been a bad tafkalc and buying lunch everyday this week. in honor of lazy, i will probably not leave my office block in search of foods. it will boil down to breadline or potbelly's. my bet is potbelly's since it's cheaper.

now i'm regretting not going to bonaroo....booo!

Lunch today will probably be a salad from ye olde' cafeteria, or perhaps a better idea is the buffet next door that has yummier selections. Hoping to bust out early today cuz picking up Mrs. Dog at the airport, her first time back in the U.S. in 8 months. The man finally let her back in. I'm stoked!

Yay! Congrats Watchdog! And welcome to Mrs. Dog! And happy house-hunting this weekend!

Hm, I'm sort of regretting not going to Bonnaroo, too. Sigh. A music-fest would be nice this week.

For lunch, I'm definitely buying today b/c I was supposed to have lunch with someone who's leaving the firm, but she's too busy, so I'm going it alone. I may go for sushi. That's sounding really good right now. Snarf.

I brought leftover dinner from last night - some random concoction whipped up while on the phone (which means, I'm not really sure what's in it, but it looks like rice, beans, tomatoes and onions) and cottage cheese. Lunch is a "working lunch," probably in my office, or the conference room.

I don't know where to post right now....

Congrats, WD! I don't think I can make QDeck this time. Argh. I never get to meet Mrs. Dog!

Uni - the Czar's away, let the mice-ies play! Post wherever you want!

(I don't know what's gotten into me, I'm normally a fan of stern order around these parts - but fuck it! I'm wearing hooker shoes and I'm in a good mood!)

HA HA HA HT!! You are right! Damn the Man!!

Well I did post initially on the other one...that no one seems to be reading....so this is what I wrote:

"My office has the A/C kickin' so I'm freezing...my summer lunch may actually consist of soup!! Although I did have cereal for breakfast with a crap load of fresh blueberries and strawberries which were nice and summery.

Got a ringy ding from the dirty hippies....jo, dipso and peep say hello! I'm sure sunshine does too but god knows they've probably already lost him amongst the masses!"

I am on a candy binge. I've already eaten one of those candy stick things (still left over from the beach and my Cracker Barrel de-virginization), a bag of gummy bears and now I'm moving on to Starburst. WTF??

LizTurtle said...

Oh, dude, I finally ate those big Smarties I got at the CB (Cracka Barrel, yo). And I haven't even broken in to the Dip 'm Stix yet-it's such a time commitment.

man, miu, someday you have to try uni's tittie cakes. Those are some freaking good cupcakes.

In the meantime . . . if you're going for a box mix, get the one with 'funfetti' in it. All the colors! So much fun!

I made some "dirty hippy" cupcakes for the bonnarooers. Basically the jazzed up white cake with crumbled oreos mixed in it...hence "dirty"...with my white chocolate cream cheese frosting with a tie-dye motif swirled on the top (made out of red, blue, yellow and green frosting gel). And I shoved an extra big chunk of oreo in the center because I don't need extra oreos hanging around my house. I think I over baked them a little. Oh well...they be so f'd up I'm sure no once will care!

I stole one Uni, and they was good!

I especially liked the nice oreo surprise when I got to the middle.

Thanks WD! I have a couple leftover still, I'll bring them up later!

Hey, Diz, you big liar - there is something going on today! The Viola Gopher Count is going on today. How could you miss this event? (all thanks to the Simpson's calendar in the next cube over.)

LizTurtle said...

Oh. My. God. Uni, those sound fantastic. And sound like they look fantastic! Can you take a picture? I want to see the tie-dye swirl!

Did I tell anyone that for my 'afternoon off' activity for my work conference at the end of the month that I'm taking a pastry making class? I'm hoping to one day make better cupcakes than Uni. Hey, we all need goals.

I stand corrected LT. Another strike against the tubby-all-knowing-IT-guy.

TAFKALC,

I just smoked a cigarette. I think I'm getting passed over for a job I deserve again.

I understand why people smoke after they get fu@Kt!

Hey, watchdog, I think I'm in for crabs tomorrow. Earlier would be better for me though. ;-) Can you get reservations or do you just have to hope & pray for a spot?? Mmmmmm. Crabs.

So the pesto survived shipment, Miu?

I have said it before and I will say it again, I went Uni to cook for me every single day.

Mr. Uni is a very lucky man.
