Blue Monday
Does any one else feel blue on Mondays? A lingering and nagging regret that you didn't accomplish more over the weekend? A dread that a whole five days looms before you have another weekend to squander with frivolity? What do you have for lunch on blue Mondays in order to cheer up? What should I have for lunch today? The question is plaguing me, help me OWFLers! WFL?

Looks like someone has a case of the Mondays. : (
Today in DC its all gloomy and doomy, quite appropriate for Jade's feelings on the matter.
I think on Monday's one should not consider health in the food choice, but rather what feels good. I don't know what that will be for me today. Perhaps a sangwich on some foccacia bread, I like that greasy bread shizzo
We do have some poopy weather here in DC. But to my surprise I'm a wee more chipper than I typically am on a Monday. I did get a quick 30 minute jaunt on the treadmill this morning so maybe that got my blood flowing.
Well, after a busy or indulgent weekend I'll usually try and get something a little better for me for lunch, a sandwich full of fresh veggies or a big tossed salad. If I were you jade I'd get a big salad with grilled chicken, black beans, sliced mangos, cucumbers and some sort of sweet vinaigrette. It's also a good time of the year for strawberries..you may be able to find a spinach salad with sliced strawberries and candied walnuts or pecans...yum.
Wow. Sushi with Bacon was FL today. Take that, the Blues.
The weather is crap AND I have to deal with the whole valet-broke-the-key-off-in-the-ignition issue. I'm eating whatever the fuck I want, even though this weekend was, as Uni put it, "indulgent."
Of course, I just need to narrow down "whatever the fuck I want" since I really have no idea. Oh, but I think it's going to involve soup.
No Miu, as part of some new leaf I think I'm in the process of turning over, I dealt with it rationally - yes, I am pissed. But, more than seeking retribution, I am seeking remedy. (for now, anyway) So, I have just called AAA, who will fix this for free as part of my beloved Plus membership, and the locksmiths are on their way. Now, the issue is that it's not a simple fix, but I trust that with enough time, they should be able to deal with it. (as they have in the past)
I think lunch is going to be either a portabello piadine and turkey noodle soup, or a toast-tite (5 cheese grilled cheese) and the aforementioned soup. Gluttonous, I know - but I'm going to the gym later, and well, the weather is crap and I'm not in a great mood.
Hm. Usually Monday winds being lunch out b/c I'll forget to go to the store until Sunday night, when everyone & their brother are there & the shelves are bare. So I say 'oh, I'll go Monday night' & then I'll remember stuff I have to do, so I won't get to the store until like Wednesday, and then I'll buy enough lunch food for a week & by the time Monday rolls around, the turkey is slimy, so I'm back to eating lunch out again. Poor me.
Lunch specifically today is a turkey sandwich with mayo, mustard, hot peppers, lettuce, onion (no toms at home :-( ) & a dash of balsamic - and the turkey is sliced off a turkey breast my mom made on the grill last night - and she brined it overnight. It is yummy. Or it was last night. I think I put too much other stuff on my sammie! I can't really taste the turkey! Dammit. Well, I'll know better for tomorrow (I still have another big slice). And maybe I'll put some fancy cheese on there tomorrow. Definitely no dijon. Too overpowering.
And, hey, good for you, Miu. I need to like eat only salads & exercise. I need to lose 12 pounds - 3 or 4 times over . . . .
My boss has gout, so I think we will be eating A LOT less hot dogs! Yay for me and my waistline! I want sushi, but I know it won't happen.
Sorry the weather sucks in DC, it is loverly in Chicago.
Somebody is finally going to get their sun dried tomato pesto! It's going in the mail in like 5 minutes.
So Treebeards was today's choice for everyone since it was one of our group's last day here in Houston before he is deported to the Thirld-world-country-esque Oklahoma City. I know, I live in Houston, but OKC is a different planet.
So there I am ... everyone else is eating gumbo and red beans and rice (with Anduille) and I am eating my lean hot-pocket and Tab Energy drink with my Yogurt.
I know you really have to try to be this uncool :)
Is that some sort of Satanic ritual only done during Full Moons Miu?
We went to the opening of the newly minted Buffalo Bayou Park here in Houston.
It was fun but kinda warm. Even in baggy shorts, flip flops, and white mormon shirt it was still warm.
Oh well, back to practicing at being cool.
I had chicken salad on a croissant and a small sald with balsamic vinigarette. I had never ordered the chicken salad from this place and I am always a little hesitant to try it at new places, but it was good. I would definitely order it again.
Where is Jo?
My case of the Mondays wwere enough to keep me home on the couch. I ate leftover spaghetti in a sauce with ground turkey and zucchini. I added alot of cheese. It was really good.
