Inspired by my recent realization (30 seconds ago) that it was I, LizTurtle, responsible for today's posting (after some muttering on my part, that why the F isn't the G.D. posting up yet), and desperate for a topic that hasn't been discussed (b/c lord knows I've done that before), what is the saddest lunch you forgot at home? Was it in the fridge so you could at least have it for dinner or lunch the next day? Or was it a masterpiece of smell & taste, a delicate balance of spices & herbs, but left on the counter in 95 degree heat so there was no way to salvage it 8 hours later when you got home & realized it was already rancid (Uh, spam kitty may be exempt from this conversation)? Lucky for me, I'm pretty lazy, so the worst I've ever lost was a turkey sandwich, which wasn't that special, except I was really looking forward to it. I think there was a Jello pudding in there, too, which was also sad, because it was the last one.
Oh, and happy Put a Squash on Your Neighbor's Porch Night or whatever the hell it is today. And What's For Lunch?

Not left at home, but I am terrible at remembering to take my doggie bags from the restruant. I always think it's ok to get a little extra because I can take it home and have if for lunch tomorrow. Everything was great I'll say. Let me have a box for the rest, I'll say. Then I pay and walk out. There were a few times that I made it all the way to the car before I realized it and when I went bask in, the table had been bussed and the lunch was gone. Tragic.
I went out with my Girlfriend last night and she got the box of leftovers. There were a bunch o f shrimp for her to take to her awful job in Downtown DC today. But alas she left it here.
Although I have access to shrimp, I didn't know that before I began to eat, so lunch today is a heaping bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats
It's nice to be back in civilization, chatting with adults about foodstuffs
Left at home... hmmm... I don't know. Oh wait, yes I do!
Once I made this awesome salad with grilled shrimp, and cheese, and delicious farm grown veggies, and croutons that my mom made.
I was living at home at the time, and when I left for work, I set the salad on top of my car while I was getting in. Well, you know what happened next. I drove away, and my salad landed all over my parent's driveway. Boooo... I was so sad. And that was over 7 years ago, and I still remember it.
Today is edamame. Because I am poor, and it was in the freezer.
Where the eff is EVERYONE???
DC OWFLer's: someone in my office is getting rid of a ping-pong table. It is in "almost perfect" condition & complete with paddles. Anyone want it? (Newton Housers . . . ?)
I once left linguini and clam sauce in my car overnight. It was during the winter months though so the outside temp. was plenty cool enough so I ate it anyways. I have left milk on the counter before that I meant to take with me and coming home to spoiled milk is yuck.
God, this is deadly today. Nobody else has regrets about forgotten food?? Sunshine, I've totally, on numerous occasions, done the doggie-bag request & left it on the table. I'm usually too embarrassed to go back inside (if I even remember before leaving the parking lot). A couple of times I've made a big honking deal about it, too & then left it on the table. Siiiiigh.
I wonder if we'll make it to 10 comments! Oooh, the anticipation of having the worst-responded (non-holiday) posting probably ever!
I won't say I've never left lunch on the counter, but I can't remember a specific instance. I doubt it was anything more than a crappy sandwich. My subconscious probably made me forget so I could go out and get something better.
I got a small salad from the GP and decided to complement it with some chili. When I went in, I was going to get a small chili, 'cause i'm on a diet and all. When I looked at the cup sizes, I decided that I should have a medium. When the guy said "next" I said "large chili please." It was goooood. I dumped a lot of the cholula that I stole from the baja fresh in there. Cholula's gooooood.
99% of the time when I plan on bringing a lunch to work I forget it in the fridge.
I just got back from a quick Chicago work jaunt. No lunch yet.
Will make up for it by having a Five Guys Burger Fest tonight in front of the telly with cajum fries and lots of really bad tv.
The missus is out of town so it is jo-time tonight.
oooooooohhhh my stomach hurts!
I had 5 shots in the arm today. Another had blood taken out. Maybe getting Typhiod would have been more fun than this.
I have a weird metallic taste in my mouth now.
as a matter of act I am. Malta got canned. They wanted $75 british lbs for the installation of the satellite in Malta .. but oddly (physics don't apply here) they only want $10K for the install once the rig gets to West Africa. So, guess who is going to West Africa instead of the beautiful coast of Spain?
Jo, livin on the edge huh?
I had Pho (pronounced: Fuuuh) today. Shoulda brought my lunch because I feel pickled and sick.
Mmmm . . . kebabs. Man, be careful there, Diz. Hey, I bet you can pick up some cheap civil-war-supporting diamonds while you're there! (Don't do it, man! Buy Canadian!)
