We've All Been There

Let's give our OWFL best to E-Que who had oral surgery this morning, and under the sweet, delicious effects of nitrous oxide, forgot it was his day to post.

But, it led me to remember when I got my wisdom teeth removed, so many years ago, and ate nothing but peach jello for two weeks.

So, how do you cope when dental distress has burgers, dogs, bagels, salads and fries out of the question? What's your go-to soft or liquid food? (yes, this is a different question than the Sick Midget one) Or, what's your favorite liquid lunch? Me, it's still peach jello. I can't do anything too hot or too cold (so, never soup or ice cream) when chewing hurts, so I turn to my dear old friend.

And, of course, WFL today?

Aw, poor Eque! When I had my wisdom teeth out, my mom made me tomato soup. I think she thought it would be good b/c it had no chunks (like chicken noodle would), but it just reminded me of blood. When I got back to school (this was freshman year) a bunch of us went to Chili's & the only thing I could have was this vegetable soup. Well, I was so hungry waiting for my soup to come that I ate my friend's croutons (she had picked them off her salad). I just sucked on them until they fell apart. It was the saddest Chili's meal ever. When I've had cavities filled, I've usually wound up with meals of mashed potatoes & pudding, etc. I never think ahead to make jello. I don't have a problem with temperature, just firmness. Wow, that sounds weird.

Lunch today = Jersey Mike's sub that my parents brought back from Jersey! These are the best subs ever. Although I'm a little worried b/c it's from Saturday. Hopefully the oil & vinegar has soaked the bread so it won't be too dry. Eek!

I've never really had any signficant dental woes. Cavities, sure, but I don't remember changin my eating habits for them. I had a root canal once, but the dentist just said to chew with the other side of my mouth. That was kinda weird, holding my head at a 45 degree angle to the right when eating, just to be on the safe side.

You WANT the oil and vinegar to have soaked the bread, LT? Maybe I don't know this particular bread and it can stand up to a two-day oil and vinegar soaking, but that generally sounds worse than dry bread to me.

I'm trying this diet thing again. Smaller portions -- easy on the carbs and fat. So, I'm thinking that I'll hit the GP salad bar and load up a small salad with chicken and egg whites for protein.

Ro has taken the week off before lawschool. So she is going to pick me up for lunch. I'm thinking about either Thai or fish tacos.

Regardless, weird weekend. I'm stoked for this trip coming up to Malta. But I find myself with a choice between going to the conference and getting a ring for a certain someone.

What do you do?

Mashed potatoes. Preferably from KFC.

Awwww, dizko! Can you buy a ring in Malta?

I am happy to report that my sandwich was still awesome. The oil & vinegar had seeped into the bread just enough to keep it from being all dry & crumbly, but not so much that it was just dough. Mmm. I'm sad it's over. :-(

How was the nitros Eque?

With my wisdom teeth pulled, I found out that vicodin is an AMAZING pain killer. I had nachos for dinner that night, complete with chunks of jalepenos from the East Lansing Favorite, El Azteco.

And while I thought it might have been a bad idea to eat hard pieces of ground corn with jagged edges, sprinkled in super spicy chunks, I went with what felt right.

Oddly, it was an ear infection that did take me down once in terms of eating. And then I drank lots of those yogurt drinks, I couldn't even really do yogurt, it was too solide..

mash po's are a must. popsicles to numb the pain.

after my wisdom teeth were pulled, i drank lots of jamba juice smoothies. my swelling was also bizarre as only one cheek went down and the other remained puffy only to make yours truly look like a chipmunk storing in one cheek for the winter. embarassing.

going down to breadline today. hopefully curried chix and couscous is headed toward my belly in a few.

Miu, that picture looks great! It turned out really well!

My friend in high school had her wisdom teeth taken out. And we went to high school in GERMANY. They are not known for their dentistry. She got the weirdest black eyes, I've ever seen. The first time I saw her afterwards, it looked like she had taken dark brown eyeliner & drawn circles under her eyes, the edges were that sharp. Like blood got into her sinuses or something? I don't know, it was the weirdest thing. And it took months for them to go away. Poor thing!

I had four impacted wisdom teeth pulled soon before I went to college. My good mother had informed me that it would be a wise decision to do it at that time since I would be on their health insurance still. I didn't realize what sage advice that was until Mr. Uni got his pulled last year and his insurance didn't cover general anesthesia.

Anyways, like Miu I was out and about that evening with my friends. You know...hot night out at Friendly's! Ice cream was a welcome treat that night...but if I recall correctly I did regret breaking the 'no smoking for 24 hours rule'. I was so D-U-M-B.

Not sure what to have for lunch yet.

Dammit! Why did I fall for that??

Malta may or may not happen depending on the satellite installation people.

Regardless, it isn't going to be a fun trip.

I am supposed to leave on the 12th but I don't even have a confirmed ticket yet.

I had my wizdom teeth out the same time I had the titanium plates put in to correct a broken jaw.

That is a long story .. the broken jaw. I was going to leave that for a conference story.

What's a turtle roll?

Wow, that sounds like a painful story diz.

Diz, are you coming to the conference?
