Shit

I slept in and totally forgot I had the post today, so I have no topic to speak of. (Why did I give myself a Monday on the sched?!) There's a mushy idea about portable foods in my head, that I don't think I've thought about enough to fully articulate.

Well, let's see. Talk about portable food. Food for the on-the-go, wo/man-about-town. What kinds of foods do you eat when you're wandering around? On the road? Running errands and too busy to stop and sit down for a proper meal?

Me? I lead a life of leisure. I always have time to stop and eat. Plus, I'm way too uncoordinated to eat and walk at the same time.

And, WFL?

I saw an ad for a new tylenol product the other day where they were saying this new go tab was portable.

Like what? Regular Tylenol is not portable? That is so dumb.

It's like advertising that the new snickers cruncher is edible, the new Nalgene jar is waterproof, and the new paperweight is subject to gravity.

On the go, I have had good success with the ol McNuggets. I can hold my drink and the bag in my left hand and I dump all my fries and all the lil nuggets into the bag and can eat with my right hand and walk at the same time. Sauces are tricky, but managable.

Also Burritos are turbo portable.

Spaghetti is tough to travel with.

On the road its gotta be a Wendy's Big bacon classic. Probably not the best burger from a convenience standpoint, but what makes it messier makes it better, all the bacon, and cheese and lettuce and tomato and onion and ketchup and mayo. hmmm ... so hungry. Too bad there's no Wendy's round here.

Otherwise a granola bar works.

Soup is generally a bad idea.

Also crabs are not a convenient on the go food.

Ah, WD, I see you've never had the Campbell's "On-The-Go" soup with the little coffee-style sippy cup top. Neither have I.

Sunshine, you have given me an idea for a spaghetti burrito. Roll it up with sauce & meatballs & it's italian-to-go. Wow, that sounds disturbingly good.

That's really weird about the Tylenol portable thing. Maybe you misheard them say "It's potable"? Like, "Now, without e.coli or listeria!"

Not sure wfl. Having those japanese soy and rice snacks right now. The only thing missing from this variety bag is anything seaweed. :-( Lunch may be standing in line at the post office b/c I am a fool.

I am going to the agency to turn in my time sheet for lunch time, but I may hit either wendy's or BK on my way back. Too bad I can't think of an Arches between here and the agency, or I'd totally get my portable meal. mmm... hot mustard.

Who gives a flying fuck? People who only eat "so I don't die" aren't worthy of your lunching time, Jo.

I am a fan of the juicy sandwich walking around. Of course, you have to walk all hunched over, so you don't get the juice down your front. And burger, and burritos, of course. A lot of stuff can be slightly less messy to eat when you don't have to deal with a lap getting sauce in it.

She likes salads.

Any suggestions?

Cosi. QUIZNO'S QUIZNO'S QUIZNO'S QUIZNO'S QUIZNO'S QUIZNO'S. Uh. I don't know what all salad-type place you all got downtown.

I totally went to wendy's and got the Big Bacon classic for you Watchdog. I even left the tomatoes on despite the fact that they are a veto item for me, cuz, that's how you'd eat it.

And you and the Mrs. Watchdog got a letter at the Newton House. We'll hold it for you until such time as we can coordinate a hand off.

Jo, if somebody only eats because they have to, it sounds to me like you get to choose where you dine. Go to Ruth's Chris.

I finally used my two-for-one burrito coupon. So I am in burrito lunches for the next 2 days. Snarf! And probably dinner, too. It is sooooooo nice out. I really didn't want to come back inside. Sigh! And I didn't have to spend it in line at the post office! Hooray! Our office guy helped me UPS it & it only cost $6. Yay! I may have to "run an errand" this afternoon, just to get outside again. It's beautiful! Jo, get take-out & eat it outside somewhere in the sun. Who knows when we'll have weather like this again. Sigh!

Sunshine, was that letter from the U.S. government? If so its mighty important and I may pick it this afternoon or tomorrow. Are you around

Oh, and thanks Sunshine for letting me live vicariously through your Big Bacon Classic awesomeness. I got a salad, about as far from the BBC as you can get.

though I had a BBC on Friday so I shouldn't complain

Speaking of portable and advertising icons, I had a Big Mac Value meal for lunch today. Technically, I suppose I'm still having it since I'm still working on my Coca-Cola.

I believe that is the first time I have ever had a Big Mac. Not bad, but I don't see it making a regular appearance on the rotation. I'm still mostly loyal to the Quarter Pounder with Cheese. (This, of course, is in the absence of a real burger place.)

On road trips, I definitely hit the Wendy's double with cheese, no mayo, no mustard, no pickle. (Here's ya fucking double burger!) That said, I decided yesterday that when I drive home for the holidays this Friday or Saturday (meaning I'll spend about 10 hours on I-95), I'm going to stop at Chick-Fil-A for breakfast.

lt: I find those portable soup cups to be remarkably disquieting.

In preparation for said holiday road-trip, I took my car in for a tune-up today because I thought it was making one of those thousand-dollar noises. Turns out it wasn't, and I got away with an oil change. Even better, the oil change was "free" because they screwed me for a big chunk of change back in August so they didn't charge me the $26 bucks today. That's about a 1% return on August's investment.

We went to Art Gallery Grill and sat outside in the amazing global warmth. I had the 1/2 chicken salad sandwich, side tossed salad and a cup of tomato soup. She had the wings appetizer (and ate them all).

Your Czar is about to go on a diet as this morning he weighed himself and is at a lifetime high. And just in time for the holidays!

Mikey, I also saw an ad for that product. I believe they are called "go tabs" or "go caps" or something like that. The slogan was something like "Tylenol Go Tabs. One small step towards ridding the world of pain."

I rocked the GP salad bar today. That's all I'll say.

I'm looking forward to peeP's report today. He's at Gibson's on the company dime.

The Doctor said...

No more weighing, czar.

Josephus said...

Anyone want to guess the Czar's weight?

There's a jo-prize in it for the winner!

HaterTot said...

244

The Doctor said...

Damn. Good guess, HT. I think you nailed it.

HaterTot said...

I've been honing my psychic abilities in my time off. I figure that I can always become a carny and run the "Guess Your Weight" booth.

No Jo Prizes will be awarded!!

Rico tubbs ruined it for everyone!

LizTurtle said...

What the f did Rico do? Goddammit!

I think I might eat the other half of my burrito soon. Eh, maybe I'll take it home for dinner . . . .

WD, It looked like a Christmas letter to me, The letter did not look official, nor did it look like it was from the government. I'll look closer and get in touch with you tonight to see if you should be coming over to grab it tomorrow.

LizTurtle said...

Sunshine: if you are in the area, go to the gift shop in the spy museum. They have a spray which makes envelopes invisible. Then you can read the entire contents & relay them over the phone to WD.

LizTurtle said...

I think it works on ladies' shirts, too.

ooo spray on shirt remover... there is a god.

Another spray-on shirt remover: elephant musk.
