I still hate the schedule...

I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.

Who’s in charge of reminding people when it’s their turn to post!?!?!? I require at least two day’s notice.

Peeso totally blew me off this weekend. It was in my city for several days. Ummm...who got peeP to start coming to the blog in the first place, where he met his fiancée/fiancé (which one's the dude?) Anyway, not even a lunch. Boy do I feel appreciated.

Please admonish Peeso and tell them WFL?

(Sorry about the lame post, folks. Well, not really. Wait until I find out whose fault this is…)

Down with Peeso!

Up with the schedule!

I'm thinking about having a bean burrito from the burrito cart guy.

That or the Soho buffet...

YAY! for Tuesday's post!

Boo! for blowing off dipso.

YAY! for blowing those other clowns.

For lunch today, I'm on the fence. Someone push me.

LizTurtle said...

Yeah, I like the schedule, too. Sorry, dude!

For you DCers, there's a thing in the Express today about a ban against new street vendors having expired, so maybe there will be more numerous street cart food choices. This won't affect me personally, being in the relatively barren wasteland of the Arlington Courthouse area, but it could be good news for you DC types.

EQ, get a lamb kebab with tzatziki.

I think I'm going to use a free burrito coupon for California Tortilla. If I do it right, I'll get a ginormous one & can eat off it tomorrow, too.

Quake, You're going to need some fantasy fuel, cuz the Vatos Locos are gunnin' for you today. [shove]

Note: fantasy fuel is probably along the lines of cotton candy or gummy bears

Dipso, as an OWLFer who travels to events (the music conference and the Unicorn cake off) you have a first among equals status here. I mean we're all equal... well those of us who actually exist are anywise. But there are different levels of equal and you are up there, so rant on brother.

It is disheartening that blog friends would blow off a visit, but as an unreliable fellow myself, perhaps I could offer up an explaination.

"dude, What?"

PeeSo: admonished

I left my sac-o-food on the counter today. Very upset and hungry...and slightly concerned about the yogurt and cottage cheese that will be really room temp. by the time I get home. I have a feeling that room temp cottage cheese won't be as appealing as a room temp Five Guys burger.

Earthquake said...

I second mikeysunshine's assessment. I support dipso.

Which is not to say that I don't support the calendar or the occasional flake-out. I flaked out on any number of people this weekend because I decided to stay at lizturtle's party instead of going to see my non-Corresponder-of-God friends.

I think today might be a good day to make a run for the border. Maybe I'll treat myself to one of their specialty items. You know: the type that has been the focus of a recent national advertising campaign.

LizTurtle said...

Uuuuuuh . . . an e-coli burrito?? B/c that will certainly having you running for something.

LizTurtle said...

And flaking out is only good if it means not abandoning me.

Earthquake said...

lizturtle: great idea! I'll have that.

LizTurtle said...

an e-coli burrito or a lamb kebab?

Heliocentric said...

Nobody's asking to have flaking out forgiven, only understood.

dizkonekdid said...

For lunch I'm thinking cheese and crackers ... they go with all that whine.

Heliocentric said...

And the schedule is about as good as it gets.

Dipso, the way I work it is, I wait until about 10:00 Eastern Time. If there's no post up, Then I check the schedule to see if A) I forgot to post, or B) the person scheduled is in a later time zone. If by 11:45 Eastern time there is no post, I put up a provisional post.

So I could say that I am responsible for checking the schedule, but I don't remind anybody of anything. You can blame me if it makes you feel better.

The Doctor said...

I blame sunshine.

I want meatloaf.

Josephus said...

sunshine is flaking on Bob tonight.

For the record I had: refried bean burrito with rice, guac, sour cream, and hot sauce on a tomato tortilla from the burrito man at 17th and K.

Which is one block south of the Bob appreciation HH tonight at The Indian Experience!

m said...

peeso is blinded by love and unaware of any way that they may have hurt poor dipso im sure. you cannot fully blame them, it's hormonal.

as taco bell, i believe that now, of all times is when you will get your best crunchy supreme chicken chalupa of your life... with all the media focus currently on their grade D but fit for human consumption ground beef and bulbous bag o' refried beans i guarantee that they are making the highest quality food of their short history.

i say "Go to the Bell!"

for lunch was a falafel. possibly the first one i have ever had that was not sold out of some mobile cart like entity. it was very pleasant although the sauce was bland. I followed this with baklava which was a little juicy and didn't seem to have that stickiness or firm body that i pray for in all i meet.

oooh, and i had an orange fanta...

Earthquake said...

Although I agree with m's assessment that today is probably the best day to go to Taco Bell. Either they have their shit straight as hell today because of the extra scrutiny OR I can give my immune system a good ol' workout like sunshine was talking about yesterday.

But, I decided it was too much hassle. I got a meatball sub with provolone from the cafe downstairs. Apparently, sub isn't short for "submarine" so much as it's short for "substandard." Don't get me wrong. I'll finish it, but I'm not happy about it. At least they didn't put mayo on it for once.

Side of Doritos with a water back.

And, lt, I was accepting the e. coli burrito offer earlier. I don't know where to find lamb around here.

Anybody know anything about Central PA? I'm going to Harrisburg tomorrow, and I'm going to need to track down some dinner. Any insight out there?

Best Diner in H-Burg: West Shore Diner

Best Bar(s) in H-Burg: Hardware Bar, The Quarter or Ceoltas

LizTurtle said...

I had 1/2 a havana burrito from California Tortilla (free!), with a side of guac ($1.08) and 2 different kinds of hot sauce. It was pretty tasty. Or, darn tasty, as they like to say. I will eat the other half tomorrow. I'm very proud of myself for actually cutting it in half to begin with instead of eating "half" of it & then putting it away & realizing tomorrow when I go to eat it that I had more like 2/3rds.

EQ, fret not! You can still get e-coli from a meatball sandwich! Just ask for the meatballs rare!

BLOG POLL, BLOG POLL!

When faced with an unregulated situation where there may or may not be a line, What do you do?

I'm talking about thing like waiting for the bus, a bank of port o pottys, the ticket counter at a baseball stadium, a crowded bar, a row of 2 or more ATMs, the stalls in a crowded bathroom, the short order cook at the lunch counter and so on...

Do you:

A) line up in front of the unit you want to use

B) Form one line and take the next available unit

C) take the next available unit

D) Organize the people

E) something else entirely

I was in a situation over lunch and I want to get the pulse of this community before I decide how I feel about it. Hopefully I haven't put any bias into this Blog Poll so y'all can answer without influence.

Thanks
MikeySunshine

Josephus said...

typically I practice "A"

LizTurtle said...

Oooh, that's a tough one. I try to gauge if there's one line per unit or one line overall then follow the trend. This is why I stopped eating at the Cosi near my office, b/c they weren't consistent. One day I'd be standing in the salad line (& be the only one) & going "Hello?! Serve me! WTF?" and the next day I'd get in the sandwich line (b/c there would be nobody in the salad line, leading one to think 'oh, one line') & then I'd get somebody who would snottily inform me that there were 2 lines. Like, not yesterday, there wasn't, twat.

Um, so in general A or B depending on what seems to be the generally accepted norm. The bathroom is always B. ATMs are usually A, but occasionally not.

HaterTot said...

Depends, sunshine. You see, at the CVS at L and 20th there are very strict (unwritten) lining up rules, that have blown my previous thoughts on such issues out of the water. And God forbid some poor idiot wanders in off the street and doesn't know the drill, lest they get yelled at by both the CVS employees AND the occupants of the line. The rule there is one line, for all cashiers. This is most assuredly not the rule at some other CVS' (each seems to have slightly different, but better advertised, rules on this matter).

Anyway, I would take a moment to assess what everyone else is doing, and then follow suit.

Today for lunch was leftover fajita salad (gracias Corresponder of Godness). I was supposed to meet my trainer at the gym at 3, but he called to cancel, so it's back to couch until it's time to meet up w/ Bob et al.

m said...

B is by far the best option unless it's a hospital.

The Doctor said...

I like the B system. In A, you never know if some old granny bitch is going to pull out a checkbook or something like that. B is the more utilitarian system -- it disperses the cost of such a granny bitch-type of situation. Of course, in B there's the quasi-retards who just blankly stand there while "next in line, please step down" is repeatedly screamed at them. That's awfully frustrating too. As for E, I often find myself wishing that I could try a "hit the people in front of you in the head with a shovel" method.

HaterTot! I just had a wonderful hate wave! It felt so comfortable.

m said...

never mind.. i vote for the shovel method now.

Lady A said...

Dipso you are whiney.

LizTurtle said...

Oooh, shovel-method. That's the method of my dreams. Useful in all types of situations.

Hey, Jo, is this the kind of happy hour place where we can order food? B/c I find myself kind of hungry & I'm wondering if I should make do on the random M&M or go for it & eat the other half of my burrito . . . .

One of my finest moments was just after I got off a nine-hour flight from Europe. I was loaded down with more luggage than I generally like and standing in line to buy a card for the New York City subway. (So, in terms of this conversation, an ATM configuration of separate units.) I couldn't maneuver very well so I just picked the unit I was going to use and stood in the line there. Then, the unit next to me opened up. I figured someone would take it, and, being that I couldn't maneuver very well, I stayed where I was. A woman standing in the line on the other side of the open unit made a big show of looking to see if anyone else was going to take it. She asked some guy walking by if he was in line. She still didn't take the damned machine.

So, after it had gotten ridiculous, I moved over and pulled out my card. Naturally, she moves at the same time, and then says all bitchy and whatnot, "I was in line for that." Since I was tired and in New York City, I pulled my walking-past-a-panhandler-ignoring-him routine. She repeated herself, more louder and bitchier.

I turned and looked her in the eye as I slid my credit card in to the slot, then turned back and bought my farecard without saying a word.

That's the most New York I've ever felt, and I loved it.

That said, if I were in the habit of carrying a shovel, I would choose E.

Heliocentric said...

Thank you bloggers. Your insight makes me feel good about the situation.

Basically, what I see here is there is no rule and no governing body for lines that are unregulated. and so it really is dealer's choice.

My situation was at an ATM. There were what apeared to be 2 lines, one for each machine. I got in the near line. I was the third person in that line instead of the 4th in the other line. It turns out that one of the guys in my line was just there for moral support so when the guy at the machine was done, they both left. I moved up to the machine and inserted my card. This lady was like 'Ahem... There's a line here.' I was like 'I know, I just waited in it', and I went ahead. She gave me guff, and tried to explain that there was a line that then split. I was like, (but didn't say) what makes you right and me wrong... Bitch. Don't assume, dummy. It makes you look like an asshole... or whatever that saying is.

LizTurtle said...

I had a similar thing happen to me at a CVS once - there were 4 or 5 people in a single line feeding into like 2 registers, and (as I am a line-killer) when I got up to the front I was the only one in line & some guy came up & tried to cut in front of me! So I was exceedingly polite (at first) like "Excuse me, there's just one line" & he just looked at me & didn't get behind so I went up & shoved in front of him. Asshole.

Heliocentric said...

And I decided that I can't skip out on the Bob event. First off, I see the value of having him get to know me better since he will then be more likely to hook it up with a comped bevi e on occasion. Secondly, the place is so close to where I am, that I Basiclly pass it on the way to the bathroom. And One G&T (which will quickly become at least 2, probably 3) can't hurt me in swim practice right?

Jo (among others) will be pleased to know I have signed up for Netflix. Now I just need to get cable/dish . . . .

LT, good question about food tonight. I have no idea. The Indian Experience has the lunch buffet that many of us are familiar with but I have never been in there after 2:00, (especially since the MURDER!!!!!).

WE're going to learn all kinds of new things tonight.

Lady A, where are the pics from several weeks ago? I really really want to SEE them!!

The murder? Is this related to the stabby jokes thing? B/c I totally didn't get it & thought it was esoterrorism.

Unregulated, non-topic chat is tough. I went to lunch at El Patio today .. second day of Free Lunch(tm). However, I had the checken breast with mole sauce and I have now been introduced to the fact that human beings don't have to rot to smell bad.

I'm doubled over in pain from the shear amount of gas.

I feel like our stock should go up a few points because I feel like a LNG terminal.

Lord, I know pig farms that smell better.

I'm done now.
