Lunch with our Guests

From time to time we have guests here at the Original What's For Lunch. Sometimes they are friends or family of one of us (Miss Chibi, Brian, Kiki). Sometimes they apparently find us randomly (perhaps from a Google search for QUIZNO'S SALADS). Sometimes they come in, post once, and disappear, a sort of hit-and-run post (naturally, I can't remember any of these). Sometimes they show up sporadically once in a blue moon(Mr. Dirty Mitts, NoTwitty). Sometimes they post intensely for days or weeks, only to disappear into the ether, never to be heard from again (Massive Delts, Ultimo Dragon). So if you could take any of these people (or animals) out for lunch, where would you take them? What would you buy them? Where would they take you? Do you think the old saying is true that guests & fish start to smell after 3 days (not on this blog . . .)? Personally, I would look forward to a good Meximelt with Ultimo Dragon, a wheat grass protein shake with Massive Delts, and maybe some blintzes and a 40 with ILL Mitch. Mr. Dirty Mitts, sorry, but I don't know any restaurants that serve stinky cat mush (I'm not sure, but I get the feeling you're not a good mouser - er, not that I know any restaurants that serve mouse . . . intentionally). So how about it OWFLer's? Pick your favorite OWFL guest & tell us WFL with them. And, as always, WFL today?

And, we wouldn't be having any kind of meals, if it weren't for the fact that God, our Lord, Benevelent Jehovah, created the world on this day, six thousand, ten years ago today. Happy Birthday, Earth!

When ILL Mitch is in the Ohio, it is always one thing. The cleveland Chop House.

Not in Cleveland, but still in Ohio? No thank you, I prefer Siberia.

Dang, heaps of guests.

I have to drop off my time sheet about 2 squares over in downtown DC during lunch today. However, since, I'm a Macphereson Square guy, I don't know too much abround Farragut.

Any help from anybody in DC would be greatly appreciated. Where can a temp get a good lunch value around there?

Wait, is cincinatti cavier a dirty thing like the cleveland steamer? I still prefer siberia.

i would take ill mitch out for a hearty meal. perhaps we'd go to this romanian steakhouse that's in the lower east side of manhattan. they serve vodka in bottles that have been frozen solid in a block of ice. it's magical.

today is cous cous and salmon that i made a while back...it should still be good.

I would love frozen bottle vodka. I am being your guest.

H-Dawg! Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer! Welcome! And welcome back, Ultimo! How I've missed you . . . I look forward to having a wrestling bout fought in my honor. Now all I need to make this day complete is some free-style rhymes from ILL Mitch. H-Dawn, those bitches in accounts payabo still givin you shit? Hey, my calculator I need for my exam just broke - any opinions of the benefits of the Texas Instruments BA II Plus Professional versus the TI-30Xa II? I need to buy it at lunch, so answer quickly, please. It may come down to what Staples has.

I'm thinking lunch might be using my 2-for-1 burrito coupon from California Tortilla. Hmmm. That could be lunch for like 4 days. Maybe I'll get some chips & queso, too. It's cold. It would be a good day for that.

I want to take Notwitty out for some comfort food...sigh.

I think I'd take clemmie to acadiana for dinner...maybe tomorrow night.

mikeysumshine hit up a corner vendor for a couple halfsmokes, chips and a soda for $4.

No idea what I'm gonna eat yet.

Half Smokes, Chips, & Soda in Farragut Square.

The lunch blog pays off and helps somebody make a decision.

lurkers.. definitely some unnamed lurkers...
i would like to take one of these shy, introverted souls out for some flautas and hear her or his opinion on the locals of OWFL blvd.
that would be nice.
i'm currently being begged to go out to lunch.

Hm, Peep, I would have said a quesanini, if only b/c the name is so ridiculous. Plus melty cheese! You can't go wrong!

Lunch today will probably be at Baja Fresh, as a coworker & I are going to buy a wedding present for a former coworker & will be in an entirely different area of Arlington from where I work! Huzzah! It's so different, it has a Crate and Barrel and a Pottery Barn. Food options: Baja Fresh, Noodles & Co., or Cheesecake Factory. You know, small mom-and-pop type places.

Per the Czar's request, I debrief on my Ann Arbor lunching experience:

At Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burgers I got a triple with fried egg and bacon, american cheese, mustard mayo olives raw onions and tomato on pumpernickle bun (Lea and Perrins administered on my own) with a side of deep fried cauliflower and a stewarts root beer. Heaven. I should have gotten grilled onions because this particular cook put them in the fried egg, as I found out by observing the orders for the people behind me being prepared. (Otherwise, I generally find grilled onions to be too messy.) There was a line, in @ 40 degree rain, around the block at Zingermans, so I didn't even try.

Half smoke from the guy in the cart at the Farragut west metro stop. The slowest street vendor ever I have been to. So instead of complicating things, I went to Burger King to round out the meal with a double cheeseburger meal.

I mean Bacon Double Cheeseburger.

Oh my god. I want an everything-burger.

I'm dying.

I spent Saturday sleeping off a cold. I felt a bit better on Sunday, but for a terrible cough, and Lady A was nice enough to bring some Tussin with her when she came over. I thought by the end of yesterday that I was pretty much done with the sickness, but then I laid down to slumber and the coughing began and wouldn't end. For hours. I finally got to sleep, only to wake up just before five, so I could do more of the coughing. This bitch is impervious even to the powers of the Tussin!

I slept all morning on the couch, and I woke up feeling groggy but better. I'm thinking of going to CVS to pick up some of whatever stuff that is that, in the commercials, it has cartoon mucus settling into people's lungs, but one dose of this stuff has the mucus and all its worldly belongings forcibly evicted. Mucisin, I think it's called?

I would like to host a party for all of our guests, so that I don't have to pick just one.

Of course today, as in most days, I'll be dining with Dirty Mitts. It will consist of leftover bread (baked yesterday with my dad's peppers) and cheese (leftover from Lady A's fondue) and probably some tomato soup (I made that during the hour or so I was awake on Saturday).

Also, I hate people who go straight for the bible category on Jeopardy. They would not be invited to our OWFL party.

some more interesting sushi for lunch... red snapper tempura, shrimp tempura with avacado and mango roll topped with red and yellow fish eggs and some sweet brown sauce.. it was good but somethign about rolls with cooked meat in them is always slightly weird... caveman knows what i'm saying.

I would like to take Ultimo Dragon out for tamales and frijoles con arroz. I know that the dragon is a simple man with simple tastes. During lunch I would pick his brain for different attack moves.

Today for me is a salad. And me so hungry after morning meetings, just now getting to eat.

dipso put burgers on my brain so I booked over to Wndy's for a Big Bacon Classic and some weird new jalepeno melt thing they had.

Decent on the former, big Eh..on the latter.

I love those musinex commercials. Hee! The snot making a little home! Aw!

So me & my coworker did wind up going to Baja Fresh, where I had a Baja Sampler #2 - with a side salad, rice, beans, and . . . a mini Burrito Ultimo!! Since I couldn't eat with Ultimo, I decided to eat a mini Ultimo. It was ok. Not as good as California Tortilla. Why does California do Mexico better than Mexico does Mexico? Oh, and I got a side of guac, which was good, but after eating the first few bites off the top, I realized that most of the cup was taken up by one gigantic piece of avocado. Which was about a day and a half away from being ripe. Siiiiigh. Other than that, it was tasty, though!

I am with you Peep. I've had the worst time trying to concentrate on work! Ugh. Oh, thanks H-Dog. I'm no hata, so I'll probably be rollin with the TI-30Xa II. Word. Siiiiigh. So bored. Come on, ILL Mitch, gives us some free-style rhymin. Please??
