If you have a farmers market near you, you should go there now. I went this morning and picked up some of the sweetest juiciest tomatoes along with some radishes, onions, garlic, lemon basil, peaches, raspberries and a walnut wheat bread boule. I'm set for some good eats this weekend!
I came home and sliced and toasted some of the bread while the mister poached some eggs. I topped the toast with sliced tomatoes, placed the egg on top and sprinkled some of the fresh basil and salt and pepper over it. So simple, but so delicious. The egg was done perfectly so the yoke ran and soaked into the bread, and the tomatoes tasted exactly how I wish they tasted all year round. I can't wait for lunch - tomato, basil and mozzarella sandwich (of course using the walnut wheat bread again). For tomorrow's breakfast I plan to make some polenta flavored with the lemon basil, smother it with sauteed onions and chopped tomatoes and again top it with a poached egg, or maybe I'll go sunny side up.
Anyone out there this weekend?? Anyone else having a lunch inspired by the season's bounty of fresh produce?

I haven't eaten yet today, but Uni, that post is inspiring.
I did however get my nails done and FINALLY got a dress to wear to the wedding next week.
I will be matching the hotel.
Pink, my dear? Is it Lilly Pulitzer?
Of course it is, Jada!
I have an upcoming wedding post in the hopper for my humble little blog, maybe I'll throw it up later today.
I made eggs this morning, a la Uni (sour cream) and LC (a la Alton Brown).
And, I take full responsibility for bailing on Uni, Mr. Uni, and LT last night. No blame should be placed on LC and definitely none on TheBunkerer who wanted to go (I suspect to spend time with his man-crush, Mr. Uni) but I was too tired to do it. Many apologies to all!
I AM excited and maybe in a nerdy way but I am ok with that! The only time I went near chicago was en route to and from the longest road work trip ever that was in Minneapolis...and Jo and HT u know why it wasn't just the drive that made it so loooong and unbearable! Plus I am ready for a weekend away that doesn't involve packing up camping gear or visiting family. Not to mention it is away from the DC metropolitan area. I need a breather from this place.
Sorry Peep, we didn't quite offer our OWFL support to the notes and scratches. LT and I were in Arlington though that night if proximity counts for anything...at a karaoke bar though. But we were with Watchdog who was out living up one more night of married bachelorhood so we were just offering our support in different ways. And no hard feelings to HT LC or the bunkerer at all (HT tell him that I think Mr. Uni was a bit disappointed too)! It all worked out...although LC was missed at the karaoke bar!
I need to detox for a month straight to recover from this weekend.
uni - i live around the corner...next time you have a delicious feast like that, I WANT TO COME OVER!!!!!!
