*THE "EATING CLUB" POST HAS BEEN RENAMED THE "SIDE ORDER" POST*
(5-10-06)
It time for another trial month folks. We are going to give the "Two Post" strategy a whirl.
Here is how we intend it to work.
1. Every weekday there will be a WFL? post. This post will be where we announce our lunch plans and discuss them with others. This is also where all discussions about lunch ideas and advice will take place. This post can be put up by any of the "contributors" who have the ability to write posts. The WFL post will be the consistent everyday post of the blog and need not be more than a few sentences or a paragraph. Whoever writes it is encouraged to be creative in asking the question (add in some topical reference or whatever) but the point is to ASK THE QUESTION, "What's For Lunch?". Again the daily post can be written by any of the "contributors" but if 11:00 EST has passed and a post is not yet up, please take the initiative to do so.
2. The second post will be the "Side Order" post (name subject to change). This post will be more reflective of the individualized posts that contributors have been writing in recent times. While it is encouraged that these posts have some relation to food and lunch, it is within these posts where the discussions may move onto tangents that have very little or nothing to do with what we are eating today. The "Side Order" posts will be written by "contributors" based upon days they sign up for on Unicorn's OWFL Calendar . On days that people do not sign up to make this post, (unless someone decides to at the last minute,) the WFL post will stand alone.
The idea behind this two post strategy is to maintain the mission of OWFL by having fruitful lunch centered dicussion, and to also reflect and respect the evolution of this blog from it's original intent, to the social and creative destination that it has become. We will try this out for one month (May 9th - June 9th) and then make a decision as to how to proceed.
We understand that the above two guidelines leave alot up to your personal interpretation, that is not by accident, it is intended that we use this trial month to see how this experiment can work in order to decide how best to move forward.
We hope that all the contributors of OWFL and all our new vistiors will participate fully in this exciting new endeavor.

All for you miu...all for you.
I like the name "Eating Club" as it reminds me of some high fallutin Ivy League club. But I don't like the posts idea AT ALL. I will go along with it for the trial period, though.
Thanks Jade. I know it may sound a bit crazy to many right now, but PLEASE, let's all give it an Ivy league try to see what happens.
And I got the "Eating Club" moniker from my memories of visiting my high fallutin' Princeton grad buddy "The Euro" in college. "We don't have frats, we have Eating Clubs..."
I'm excited to try this. As I said before, I'm all for one post a day, but then I would strongly push for it to be far more lunchy than the posts have been. This blog set out with a mission, and I'm sad to see that it's gotten lost. I think the two posts idea is a great compromise.
The Jo household has become diet conscious and so dinners have been prepared by the missus according to point values.
We are entering week 4 and I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised at the quality of the meals. I have been told that tonight is some sort of chicken concoction with veggies.
Do you guys think we should create some sort of "Eating Club" masthead or something that differentiates the special posts from the dailies?
I'm not sure what I'm picturing...maybe just a tagline entry "The Eating Presents..." or something? Just thinking out loud.
Hello there e-que. Good to see you. It will require some self discipline to limit the WFL post to lunch of the day conversation. Again, this may not work, but it allows for some consistency in the blog mission and gives an avenue for continuing our communal creativity... It seems a little daunting, but if you look at other group blogs/websites out there, you can see similar splits by topic and utitity.
Think of it as two seperate posts, one is and always will be Lunch, the other is personality driven.
miu, I'll get back to you on that...heading home now...
I'm perfectly happy to throw the WFL post up everyday, as I have no intention of signing up for the schedule. Throwing up a simple one in the morning is doable for me, and if it doesn't illicit a response, that's okay. Well, except that it means that the mission of the blog has changed, which is a larger issue.
If we ever create another spinoff blog about dining out, we can call it "The Eating Out" club. That would probably attract lots of interest.
yo, i love uni's new calendar! that is a fantastic idea.
the two posts, i'm thinking is a bit much. but of course, a trial period will reveal whether it works or doesn't.
yay for us WFL-ers! we're so creative!
I don't like it...I'm trying it...but I don't like it.
so, i'm confused about the "side post" thing. do you use the calendar only if you are going to put up a "side post" or do you use the calendar if you are just posting at all? today, i signed up on the calendar, but i didn't put up a "side post" but really a legit lunch topic.
will someone please clarify? thank you.
tafkalc, even though the whole "side order" idea seems to have largely gone the way of the Dodo, I direct you to the body of the post for answers to your questions.
