I finally have lunch figured out before 11:35 am. I'll be dining on home fries that I didnt get this morning, then perhaps, a stroll.

I actually ate breakfast today. Sausage, egg and cheese on Wheat toast from the place in my lobby. Birthday lunch for a co-worker at CPK today.

Breakfast is 2 cups of coffee (no. 2 coming up in 5 minutes) in the office, and at home, I had the middle of the bread that you tear out of the loaf of bread when making a muffelatta. Yes, I made a muff. We have a leaving-do for 2 people in the office & that was my (expensive, but oh-so-tasty) contribution. I'm kind of hoping people hate it so I can take it home for dinner. Although I might have brought about the only edible stuff (aside from dessert). Also on the list: broiled fish (wtf?) and steamed veggies (double wtf??). Like, dude, it's a potluck luncheon. Nobody cares about your diet.

I also ordered a sushi platter with the leftover gift/food fund. Yay!!!!!!! I hope it's good. Cross fingers.

I want sushi and I am eating alone today so I just might make that happen.

Speaking of WTF?s, I have a silly schmoozin' lunch with my rental car account rep today. I assume he's buying, but I figure I need a location suggestion since he's in from out of town.

Thinking I want to do better than Tchotchky's, but I'm somewhat opposed to pursuing the "finer" dining options available at the Tysons Corner Center Mall...

Earthquake, how's about Olive Garden? It's like you're family there.

Also, if it's Al, don't worry about the finer joints. He's taken me to Daily grill.

I find the Olive Garden to be a bit depressing.

WhereTF can I get crab balls in DC??!!

Josephus said...

Uni, I don't know about crab balls, but I do know where you can get some balls that smell crabby.

rimshot!

LT, careful on that caffiene .. that stuff will killya.

Today I am walking down to Chipotle (in honor of the blog). I will most likely grab a big ass burrito and wait in really long lines as it is close to the court house where RoEsq is today... crappy day out BTW here. How is it in Chi-town and shadeyville (DC)?

DC's like North FL in April today. Gorgeous, humid and it's hard to stay indoors.

Had business at McDonald's today, so I picked up some nuggets. I've been a solid Sweet N Sour sauce user since these lil fuckers came out in the 80's, but I picked up some Hot Mustard today and I might have to admit, I've been making the wrong decision for neigh on 2 decades.

Lady A said...

I am a big hot mustard fan...but what you should do though Sunshine is one dip in the Sweet-n-sour and then do a second dip in the Hot Mustard...a McD's twist on spicy honey mustard.

I'm way ahead of you Uni.

I got the 20 piece so I have plenty of units to experiment with.

I can't decide which is best, SnS first, then HM, or the other way around.

I'm thinking lead with SnS, then follow with the HM which has a more demanding after taste.

Where can I get a crabcake sandwich in DC within a few blocks from 21st and K? I'm having no luck with finding crab balls...is it odd that Legal Seafood does not have a crab cake sandwich?

Heliocentric said...

Perhaps because crab cakes are illegal seafood.

very odd, uni. the restaurant has "seafood" in its name for christ's sake!

i'm starving, but i have no clue where to go. i think i'm meeting up with my friend for lunch and the options are boring me today. corner bakery chopped salad perhaps? suggestions appreciated.

Tafkalc, definitely burrito with sour cream.

Today would have been good with soup. But I did make the hike (yes I walked ... its faster) all the way down our awesome rail system here in Houston and got Chipotle.

I'm craving a second lunch with deep fried pickles.

And, Olive Garden it was.

I can't say it is my first choice, but the salad is tasty, and the chicken parm was serviceable. Besides, it's a short walk which beats the hell out of northern Virginia lunch hour traffic.

And, it was free. Thank you, corporate whoredom!

And, thank you for your advice, OWFL!

:( I went with veggie sub from subway...I got way too hungry while trying to find a crabcake sandwich. I had to restrain myself from getting the seafood sub...but my stomach is a little flip floppy after my sausage, egg and cheese bagel sandwich that I had for breakfast. I am definitely getting Five Guys for dinner so I figured to save me some toilet time later tonight I'd better get something a little better for me in between.

Heliocentric said...

Thanks for the info and for trusting our advice EQ. Glad to know it worked out.

SO is that guy going to crack the whip for me in Schnectady now?

Heliocentric said...

..."save toliet time..."

Why would you want to? Probably don't have any good books down there. Stop on up, we've got great poo reading.

Josephus said...

McCormick & Schmicks has a crabcake sandwich Uni. Soorry so late.

I had a duck pizza at CPK. Done up like mooshu duck with green onions and shitake mushrooms.

Josephus said...

Tasted just like mooshu duck. It even had the plum sauce.

Lady A said...

Thanks Jo...I figured they would have one but it's about two blocks further than I would prefer today.

Thanks for the offer of reading material sunshine...I actually have a great book right now for toilet time..."Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West"...it's like Harry Potter meets any of Tolkien's novels with a little bit of George Orwell.

Ooooh, I loved the musical. I hear the book has a lot more stuff going on in it (which makes sense - who wants to sit through a 23 hour musical?).

I am so full. And also so irritated. Let me take this opportunity to let everyone know that there may be a OWTF posting tonight . . . gr. People suck.

Oh, since this is not side order . . . lunch: 3 meatballs in some sweet sauce, 4 dumplings (which turned out not to be homemade - gr. still good, though. I love dumplings), many pieces of sushi, a full wing of jerk chicken, a slice of broiled salmon, 4 crackers with homemade cheese ball (so good)(and yes, Jo, I sucked it right down), some steamed veggies (so healthy!), a slice of muff, some not-quite-ripe strawberries, a couple slices of pineapple, a slice of cheesecake, a slice of chocolate-chocolate chip cake, 3 cups of champagne and a couple cups of Diet Coke to keep me awake today.

I'm so full. And I'm still considering going & having another couple of crackers-full of cheeseball.

I heard that guy (lady?) wrote another book & it's like from the point of view of Cinderella's evil stepsisters, I think?

Heliocentric said...

Yeah, I'd like to hear from the big bad wolf.

His lunch was hard to get and depending on the version of the tale, his dinner ended with him as soup. Poor fellow.

Ever heard the 3 Little Pigs told in song form by Green Jelly (nee Green Jello)? It was awesome.

LizTurtle said...

My college roommate & I had a mix tape with those kind of kitschy songs on it - it had 3 Little Pigs (video was awesome, too!) and the Speed Racer techno song (Uh! Uh! Uh! Oh Speed!! Speeeeeeeed!!!!!!!), which opened my eyes (or ears, rather) to the porny voice track of Speed Racer. Hm. Those are the only 2 songs I can think of on there.

LizTurtle said...

I would love to hear that tape! Except, I don't have a tape player anymore. And sigh - I have so much funny random stuff on tape. I may have to break it down & buy a tape deck to hookup to my computer - would such a low-tech item attach to my apple? According to that commercial, it would.

LizTurtle said...

THANK YOU MIU!!!!!!!! That is awesome. Although I'm sad to admit, I'm not sure what some of the songs are . . . .
