The question of what's for lunch was solved for me today. I'll be having had breakfast.

I got a breakfast sammie on my way in to the office today and 'The Man' had gone ahead and provided breakfast for me. I'll eat his muffins for lunch. Total lunch cost to me. $0.00 Aww Yeah.

My Monday lunch is usually defined by the sort of weekend I just had. If it was a boozy, binge-filled three days, then I'll usually take a long lunch and find something with some healthy heft to it. (I'm looking at you Giuliani on wheat from New York Deli.) Mostly because it's probably the first solid food I've put in to my system since Friday at lunch.

If, on the other hand, I've had a pleasant weekend of sipping tea whilst writing or crocheting, I'll probably skip lunch in my ill-gotten fervor to get some work done while I still think I care.

Due to some out-of-town visitors and a notable lack of self-control, I find myself today recovering from one of the former weekends. At the same time, I'm playing hooky from work in order to move in to my new place. (To be honest, this would have felt more like hooky back when I was hanging drywall for a living. With the desk job, this is actually more like work than work is.)

In short, I see in my future a burrito hastily scarfed down while driving between my new home and my old one. And, perhaps, a workingman's beer.

I ate like a pig & drank like a fish this weekend. Oink. Debating lunch. I should get a salad, but I'm thinking I might get sushi (because I didn't spend enough money this weekend). Hm. Maybe I'll take a poll.

Salad is for girls. Which may not help you decide Miss.

Go sushi. It's wonderous and your body will appreciate the simplicity of it after working overtime on the weekend.

Sushi with a seaweed salad. I love that stuff! Yum yum yum!

Oh, yeah, I'm getting seaweed. I was going to do a fancy poll monkey poll, but it sounds like the masses have spoken. Yum! And Uni, good call on the seaweed salad! So getting that!

I just got back from a weekend abroad that involved some serious eats.

To report on one:
I went to one of those japanese steakhouses where the grill is at your table and your food is cooked right in front of you, with lots of fanfare and choppity chop chop. Pretty cool. We had the filet mignon and salmon with vegetables.

Anyhoo, not sure about lunch today, but i'm mighty hungry. I think my stomache expanded over the weekend. So whatever it is its gonna be BIG

Blast!!!

Watchdog, welcome home. We went ahead and stocked up with a large can of IPA for you. Maybe that should figure into your lunch plans; leaving room for when you get home.

LT, don't get discouraged. They'll be legal some day.

Yes, as one of my less reputable associates in college likes to put it, "If you can't find the perfect man, you can always raise him."

LT - Rob the cradle! (just kidding)

i'd like to report that philips cafe sandwiches are awesome, and of course, owned mostly by my people. their set up is like subway's except the sandwiches are WAY WAY better and the place doesn't have that disgusting manufactured bread yeasty odor that every subway location has...makes me sick just thinking about it.

today was extra special though b/c the philips i located is but a stone's throw from the office (had no idea it was there & discovered it thanks to a CVS run with HT) AND they were playing some serious christian rock music...eek! flashbacks from pre-pubescent days of yore...ugh.

i got fresh carved ham sandwich on soft sub roll, l, t, black olives, giardinera (sp?) peppers, muenster, mayo, and spicy brown mustard.

yeah, i am eating early. eating first half now and saving second half for later.

I'll have to check out this phillip's place fo' sho'.

Pretty excited about the beer in the fridge at home. Wish I could that for lunch.

Trying to be good for the next couple of weeks...veggie burrito and a salad for lunch. I hit up a china food buffet with the family on Saturday. Holy crap I ate a lot of food. You just can't help yourself. What is it about buffets that make your stomach double in size the moment you walk into one???

I ordered way too much sushi. I got the seaweed salad, a spicy tuna maki & the sashimi plate. Which came with a salad and miso soup. I didn't eat the miso, but I snarfed on everything else. Oink! Oh well, it could have been fried. And there was only the one roll with rice. They have this one fish on their sashimi plate & I have no idea what it is. It's so good, though. It's a white fish (but not yellowtail) - it's very opaque and all one color - no pink stripes or anything, like yellowtail sometimes has. And it's kind of buttery. Someday I'll actually remember to ask them what it is.

Now I want a nap.

pho ... beefcake and marinated beef fillets over white sticky rice.

blah .. what a shyte day. ... its beautiful here and all I want to do is be out playing. Sometimes its torture to have an office with big windows.

diz, I can dig what you're saying about the curse of big windows. Of course, I wouldn't know. The only natural light I get at my desk is the six-pack in my bottom file drawer.

And, the lunch update? Looks like I'm having an early dinner for lunch today. Stupid moving. On the upside, I think I'm going to bake a few chicken breasts over a bed of and under a light crust of Whole Wheat Stove Top and early young peas.

It ain't health food, but it ain't bad.

eating second half of sandwich...had time to marinate...mayo, spicy mustard, and peppers have mingled into a delicious marriage of flavor...mmmmmmmmmmmm

Marinating sammie. Brilliant.

I noticed how the lunch I got at lunchtime in school was always better than when mom made me one on the weekend. It had to be the marinade time. too bad it took me some 20 years to figure it out.

I am starving and I am eating Goldfish crackers because that is what I have. They are flavor blasted xtra cheddar. I am bored. i should drink some water, but i am too lazy to get up & go to the kitchen. plus it will probably hit my bladder right before i get on the train. hm. i should get some anyway, i guess. sigh.
