Rico: 0-2

I was under the impression that one of the most reliable ways to meet people was through your friends. They come prescreened, you get references, you have a little safety net in place. Yeah, that's what I thought, until I started meeting friends of Rico's. The first one never called me back even though he said the night we hooked up was, "the best night of his life," according to Rico. The second, essentially stood me up last night. So Rico [and his friends] are currently, 0-2.

Rico is currently in our home town enjoying some fine home cooking and has the opportunity to eat at my all time favorite restaurants ever, El Azteco. While I get to hang out by myself in Chicago and wonder why I can't get a date. At least there is lunch to soothe my soul.

What are you having for lunch this weekend?

Oh, well - better to be alone than drunk and putting a curse on a cab driver's family (in Hungarian, thank you very much) at 4am.

I'm so effin' tired. I don't know if I'm going to be able to partake in the ingestion of tasty brewed beverages later today.

Oh, and I need to go get my fucking car.

I think I need to crawl back under the covers after I get done eating this spoonful of low fat mayo.

Waking up without a hangover and without having spent any money is a nice change of pace, actually.

I think rico barely knew that guy. spinach for lunch. any suggestions how I should eat it?

Well, I should clarify. I eat Single Person "sandwiches" all the time, which means that I don't use bread and just eat the components. So, I was eating slices of honey smoked turkey, slices of swiss cheese, tomatoes and mayo and mustard. So, I'd take a bite of each component and then the last thing was a half spoon of mayo, with a little mustard on top.

It's sorta the same concept as upside down margaritas. Kinda'.

And, I want Jack to send all my meals to me.

You'll have to try it out sometime when Mr. Jack is out. I actually prefer it to traditional sandwiches in many ways. That said, it's kind of messy and not pretty.

Gorgonzola is THE BEST. Another of my favorite single person foods is pasta with (lots) of red onions, olives and tomatoes sauteed in garlic and olive oil and tossed with gorgonzola. But, after eating it, the house and your person stink for days.

I think my eating habits preclude me from ever not being single.

No matter how much I love homemade mac and cheese, there are times when nothing but the Kraft will do.

I also like the Velveeta Shells and Cheese, but to me, it's not really a substitute for the others. More it's like homemade, Kraft and Velveeta are three entirely different things.

Rico, last night we learned that when you're here, you're going to need to educate abs on who Rico Tubbs is.

Jada said...

I don't know what Rico Tubbs is, either.

I didn't respond to Jo and his spinach quandary, although it is probably too late now.

I like to wilt/sautee spinach. Little olive oil in a pan, add some minced garlic, as soon as it becomes fragrant, add the spinach which should still be slightly wet. Toss it around to distribute the garlic. Cover. Let steam a couple minutes, remove from heat and squeeze some fresh lemon juice on it.

Or I make a salad. Fry some bacon and hard boil some eggs. Reserve a couple tablespoons of the bacon fat and put in a clean pan. Add about half as much good vinegar, a couple teaspoons of sugar, freshly ground pepper and a pinch of salt. Stir over high heat until sugar melts and it bubbles, then pout over the spinach, chopped eggs and crumbled bacon. Thinly sliced red onions or mushrooms can also be added.

Thanks Jade. I ended up getting a chicken salad sandwich while running errands, but I think that spinach salad will be on the menu tomorrow night.

Ace came home early this weekend unexpectedly. We went to Jakes and I got fried chicken and he got a hot dog [with just ketchup. lightweight.] and we drank RC's and then got a vanilla soft serve ice cream cone. They have such flavorful vanila, it's yummy. I then bought $4.00 worth of bouncy balls. Then we stopped at the corner store and bought a whole bag of candy, lemon heads, now and laters, boston baked beans, that kind of stuff. Now we are going to sit on the couch and watch the Incredibles. He is the best date in the world. He'll even snuggle with me without getting fresh.

Oh my God, I am out of control today. I felt like cooking. I roasted a small fresh turkey, with stuffing [includes dried cherries, pecans, apples, mild sausage, onions, celery, amaretto, and rosemary] mashed potatoes, and gravy. I also made chocolate chip cookies and a curried chicken salad for lunch tomorrow, although I have an obscene amount of leftovers. I am so tired I think I am going to fall asleep on the couch. Again.

i had mexican food for lunch back in dc today with HT, e-que, LT, and a whole bunch of others. we got shit hammered and are continuing the festivities at e-que's comfy house...curled up on the couch, popping valium, drinking cocktails, listening to steely dan, blogging, and wearing fleece/sweat pants. ahh, this is the life. i'm so happy to be home.

La Choi comes across much more sober on the blog than she does on the phone. Those cats are wasted right now. I recieved this text from HT a little bit ago, "Back Jack do it again. Drunk." Um, I think that's an understatement for ya.

I love you guys!

I MISSED THE DAN!

Wish I had been there, but even if I had come when HT called 4 hours ago I still wouldn't be close to how drunky that crew sounded.
