I read all the labels at the grocery store last night and prepared a low cholesterol baked pasta dish with tomato sauce and broccoli. I ended up making two pans of it. It’s not bad. No cheese. I almost bought some imitation mozzarella – does anyone have any experience with this substance? I think the brand was “pizza mate.” So anyway, that’s WFL for Dipso’s foreseeable future. I’m not going to keep harping on this cholesterol thing. I’m really most interested in seeing how much I can change my score in three months with diet and exercise. I’ll report in @ the end of February.
Also, there’s no heat in my office. Everyone’s walking around in coats, hats and scarves. My feet are blocks of ice.
WFL?

Dipso you have my sympathies.
I'm thinking about getting fried chicken from Wendy's. Never gotten it from WEndy's before, and I don't think I've ever had fried chicken for lunch.
Or I may just hit Capital Grounds. An Italian hoagie might be nice. Or I could hit my favorite buffet and go with a little of everything from the hot bar.
I'm hungry.
ricotubbs -- you are asking age old questions plaguing human beings since the beginning of time. here are my answers:
you cannot do the first one (ever watch aladdin?). yes, yes, yes, yes, no, no, it's still a vegetable, yes, stars of david.
i crafted a divine feast for myself last night of salmon poached in coconut milk, tomatoes, and fresh green beans. mmmm. i'm eating that for lunch today.
dipso, i think some of that artificial stuff that you may use to substitute for lowering cholestrol are just as bad but in different ways. i guess chemicals in general scare me. i wonder if you can just take lipitor and be ok? sorry...i'm a big advocate of prescription drugs. if a pill can do it, i say why the hell not???
Dipso, if you want to lower your cholesterol score, you might want to try increasing your intake of linoleic acid. Men in particular are found to need 3-5 x the amount of linoleic acid than women. A good easy source of it is cold-pressed flaxseed oil. Only buy the kind that is stored chilled and in opaque bottles, and one tablespoon a day is a good amount to add to your diet. Whole Foods should have it. Reducing coffee intake [heresy!] is also recommended, but at the very least avoid nondairy creamers as they are laden with coconut oil. I am a big supporter of avoiding the fake, reduced fat nonsence producers try to pass off as food. I think it is better to rely on fresh, "real" foods than the watered down, highly processed alternatives. I'd rather have one BLT with a thick layer of mayo on each piece of toast every now and then, rather than a bit of the fake stuff all the time. OK, my unsolicited advice will end. For now.
I'm at home today, so I think will be making some pasta with a small mountain of freshly grated parmigianno regiano and some steamed brocoli. Wow, I'm hungry today.
i just realized that i said that i'm scared of "chemicals" in food but that pills are ok...ha! in la choi's world, they are two separate things. (nuh uh, it makes perfect sense!)
thanks for those of you who've been defending me against those haters on my blog! WFL-ers, you rock!
Thanks, Jade. Advice solicitation is implied. I'm sure I'll need more at some point, so let it flow.
Yes, LaChoi, it was the chemicals that made me put the stuff down. I never REALLY considered it.
A BLT sounds good. Lathered in extra cholesterol and a slice of cheddar. I'm off!
I am dining on a chicken salad blt courtesy of Capital Grounds.
so i'm looking forward to a delicious salmon meal with coconut milk, tomatoes, green beans, etc. oh the build up! i put my stuff in the microwave with anticipation. i was starvin.
in the middle of heating, the microwave suddenly just stopped working. the light was on but no heating was happening. therefore, i got a semi-cold lunch going on here. what a downer.
Hello All! Sorry for the late day post, but duty called. My services were required at our Board meeting, at which we were fed really odd sandwiches.
I opted for a bbq beef pita with mayo and lettuce and tomato, but the bread fell apart almost immediately, so I just ate the beef. They also served lettuce, which was probably meant to be Romaine and probably meant to be a Caesar, but it fell short. Really short. Short like a midget. But of course, not as cool.
You changed a tire? Dude, I would never let a guy change a tire for me in weather like you describe. Daddy pays for me to have AAA+ for a reason!
Sheesh!
Where the hell is CSR?
Rico - on the movie rental - yes
on the peeing - they could continue, as when you die, you evacuate, so it would happen even if you weren't actually in the act.
The sun doesn't actually shine in ye' old ass crack.
Vamps are a myth derived from Christianity, almost solely, therefore I'm thinking, your question is moot.
DIPSO: I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH: IMITATION MOZZARELLA IS EVIL, VILE AND DISGUSTING. DO NOT DO IT.
I have sampled every kind of imitation, fat free, lite, what-have-you on the market and I can say that the vast majority of these suck, suck, suck. The low fat mayo is an exception, and I'm a fan of Philadelphia lite cream cheese (BUT NOT FAT FREE - YUCK). Some lite cheeses (cabot is an example) are fine, but I have not yet once had an acceptable fat free cheese. Blecch. (except cottage - love the fat free cottage cheese)
I don't consider potatoes to be vegetables. I have to return movies tonight and now I'm nervous. Thanks a lot, Rico. "Wow, he died, just like the blog said."
