Help me I'm drunk!

I'm back WFLers and I'm drunk.

It's 10:00 a.m. in NY and I am hammered still. Last night was the company Christmas party. I was coerced into doing at least 7 shots or Makers Mark, Jameson, and Jack Daniels. I drank a lot of beer, switched to Vodka at 2:00 a.m. and then went and karaoked. I sang "White Wedding" walked on couches (didn't fall) wouldn't give up the microphone after, etc. Was a mess but remember every part of the night. Anyhow I just had a Ham & Cheese Croissant and a large coffee. But it didn't help. I can barely type and I can feel my stomach churning.

WFLers, what can I do to cure my hangover and queasy stomach?

Pizza? Burger? HELP!

P.S. The best thing about the x-mas party is that I wasn't even close to being the drunkest person there.

CSR -- i hear you on the hangover. our office holiday party was yesterday too. though everyone in my office finished up around 3pm, ethics, abs and i continued partying at ethics' home. i kept drinking after that since i had to work at the wine store. i was drunk for 12 hours.

my cure for hangovers is always a greasy meal. i know that the ham & cheese sandwich this morning didn't help. however, my cure is always a nice and tasty swiss cheese, mushroom and grilled onion burger with crispy french fries. if that doesn't cure what ails you, then all you can do is sleep it off.

I'm leaving for the office christmas party in a couple hours--what would you have done differently, CSR?

Jada said...

I said it last week about hangovers, and I'll say it again, the only fails safe cure is to smoke. And not the kinds of smokes you can buy at 7-11. You also need to drink as much water as you possibly can, until you are peeing what looks like water it is so clear. I also really like the largest coke I can get from McDonald's [don't know why, but they have the best coke] and a couple Aleve. If you can, sweating it out and sleep are also good.

WELCOME BACK CSR - YOU HAVE BEEN MISSED!!!

I will again agree w/ Jade, but since that might not be possible, I'll recommend Gatorade and saltines, segueing into something that includes french fries and a bloody.

Is the DC chapter of WFL meeting at Ascot? Has Chief Ramsay re-opened it?

By the way, welcome Rosie-Que! And welcome back Ms. Turtle!

(oh, and to abs and lachoi, the cookies that abs brought to my house yesterday are in the kitchen - so let's not mention the whole "cat eating them" thing, mmmkay?)

McDonald's undoubtedly uses the power of science to craft the "perfect coke". Did you know that they put plastic in their milkshakes to make them thick? Yup, little tiny beads of plastic about the size of a grain of sand. Pass through your body undigested. So as for coke, super sugar?! who knows.

jade is right on the hangover remedies. Water is truly the key. A hangover is essentially dehydration. Try gatorade too, the electrolytes and shit help you out.

Eat lots of protein.

oh csr, i thought i'd highlight the fact that you ALMOST had a fks sandwich (fks = fat kid special) today. the only thing is that the ham should've been sausage and there definitely should be some egg involved. anything else would be uncivilized. perhaps we can call the ham & cheese croissant the "fat adult special" or "fas".

hamburger is yummy yummy in the tummy. too bad 'cause the grilled onions are so key.

i double booked myself for lunch today. i have to dine with another coworker of mine who i had a serious fight with last week but now we've made up. am i a bad WFLer now? i just don't know how i can back out of this one honestly without ruffling some feathers. plus, if the ascot is closed, doesn't that mean that the lunch is rescheduled until further notice?

Bloody Mary. And have a really greasy burger WITH fried onions.

DC crew I am calling the Ascot now to see if they are open.

Welcome back CSR, you've got alot of catching up to do.

Josephus said...

THE ASCOT IS OPEN!

Who's in?

Josephus said...

The Ascot has been rescheduled for next week. Probably Thursday.

Josephus said...

Ascot is back on. Meeting la choi and ethics there in 10 minutes.

rico I am down for some Friday night shopping.

CSR - I don't know what it is, the coke is just perfect. Perfect mix of syrup to fizz. I also really like coke in a glass bottle in Mexico. But McD's has crafted the fine art of coke somehow, I am sure they add something evil and addictive. Just like I am convinced Chipotle puts crack in their rice [another McD's owned chain, mind you.]

Jo and Rico - if you are going to East Lansing will you pleeeeeease go feast at El Az Teco for me? I won't be going all the way home to EL but will instead be chilling at the Harbor. I miss El Az more than anything in EL. Shopping in EL is not the same since the demise of Jacobsons.

Jade, as a former employee, i'd like to point out its El Azteco, not El Az Teco. Perhaps "Teco" is just your nickname for it? The name El Azteco is actually misspelled in Spanish, it should be El Azteca as Aztec is an irregular word in spanish. Art, the owner, is not known for his spelling. But he invented something known as the "bean gun" which is used to put beans on nachos. Shoots piping hot beans through a hose. When the beans get dry we would add "bean juice", also an Art invention. First rule of working in the El Azteco kitchen, don't drink the bean juice...

Jada said...

You worked at Teco!!!!!!! Oh My God!!!! This is revolutionary!!!! Give me the recipe for the Cheese Dip NOW!!!!!!

Jada said...

Seriously, I am buggin right now. Teco is my all time favorite restaurant. I wrote a whole post on it for my blog in October. Did you know Skater Dave? I'm not kidding about the cheese dip recipe, either

Jade, I can't tell you the exact recipe because the El Azteco intelligence services monitor the public domain for such disclosures, and punishment involves the bean gun, that's all i'm saying. I will tell you the ingredients, its up to you to put them together in the correct ratio:

cottage cheese
sour cream
finely shredded meunster cheese
scallion onions (those green things)
cumin
garlic
salt
jalapenos
worchester sauce

Have you ever tried the enchiladas jocoque? Essentially the same filling but add chedder cheese. I actually prefer the jocoque as a dip to the cheese dip.

Jada said...

That is a good start, but it is not sufficient. I require the exact recipe. You can email me directly. Don't think I'm joking. I never joke about the cheese dip.

Josephus said...

Jade I will have a topopo salad in your honor. Way=tchdog worked at the Lansing El Az by the way. I still miss the roach infested underground El Az from my childhood.

Josephus said...

Ascot good. The artist formally known as pumpkin soup joined us. I think la choi may take a siesta at her desk.

and congrats are in order for ethics...

Jada said...

Congrats for ethics? Is she expecting a bundle of joy?

Josephus said...

It's work related!
No bundles!

Anonymous said...

Jade, sorry but in truth I do not know the exact recipe, its been years and I never stole the written directions. if you have patience and good taste buds you should be able to reconstruct the cheese dip with the ingredient list.

I'll give you some advice based on my memory.

1 part sour cream
1 part meunster
2 parts cottage cheese

Everything else is all about spicing it up. roughly equal parts powdered garlic and cumin, less salt. (fresh garlic would probably be an improvement). Just a little on the jalapenos. More so on the onion thingys. Worchester, maybe same volume as the cumin power.

Good luck!

I pity the child that, in a parallel universe, I might be expecting. Aside from the obvious fetal alcohom syndrome, there'd be all the psychological trauma of being the second coming of Christ/immaculate birth thing, so thank the stars that there's no bundle.

Thank you Jo for the congrats - I was formally promoted today, which is very exciting, though, I suspect may mean less blogging time. Nothing takes effect until January, and you'll all have 2-3 weeks of post surgery recovery time in the beginning of February during which you will all become sick of hearing my painkiller addled ramblings.

Lunch at Ascot was terrific, as always, and I'm pleased to report that no one got stabbed. Sadly, as part of the ongoing investigation, the Ascot is unable to serve liquor, which put the kibosh on plans to celebrate with bloodies all around. Nonetheless, the Ascot still consistently puts on one of the best Indian buffets in town, and even has my favorite milk balls as dessert. (I can't ever remember what they're really called, despite my friend constantly telling me for the last 20 years)

Today has been a good day. I now need to decide if I will end the day meeting up with LaChoi for a champagne tasting, or stick to my plan to ABSOLUTELY NOT GO OUT THIS WEEKEND.

Jada said...

Good job Madame Presidente! That is cause for a celebration. The best I can do is eat some candy and have another cup of coffe at my desk, but I'll be thinking of you.

Thanks Watchdog, I think that will be the best holiday present I will recieve this year. I am going to try and replicate it for myself at home this weekend. Details to follow on Monday.

Jo, there was a time when I preferred the Lansing location to the EL one. After they closed the basement Teco, I got uppity and testy and hated the new one. It also used to be that only the Lansing one gave you free chips at lunch. I've mellowed some in my old age and I no longer discriminate about which one I go to.

HaterTot said...

Am I the only one who thinks it's cute that rico and jo are going shopping together?

By the way, as a matter of housekeeping:

The OWFL is ostensibly an ANONYMOUS blog. Ahem, Rico.

Josephus said...

both rico and csr have effed up the anonymity rules.

I of course prefer El Az West, as the Lansing one is known. Perhaps that's because I was fired from El Az East the same week I was made manager at El Az West. Yes, both fired and promoted by the same organization in the same week. It is a testament to the wacky behind-the-scenes dealings that was (and I assume still is) El Azteco Inc.

HaterTot said...

Rosie! LaChoi and I were thinking of hitting that up, but she's got other commitments... are you going? I could swing there on my way home, and that's not technically going out, right?

But, I don't think they have any Strawberry Hill - you sure you want to go?

Unknown said...

you guys, in order to do the ascot with ethics, jo, and abs, i rearranged my coworker lunch to a coworker after work cocktail. then i have an appointment at 7pm with my therapist, which if i miss, will cost me $120. (yikes!) but i do want to do the champagne tasting because there's a new one that we just got that rocks! do you think i can squeeze in everything before 7pm? the tasting is until 9pm btw...

HaterTot said...

Jo mentioned something about being done after lunch, though he's been pretty quiet. I suspect he's sleeping in his off and/or self-diagnosing his "detached retina."

I would love to start now... I'm thinking I need to give it at least an hour though, before I can safely leave. What with this whole "Senior Management" thing, I guess I can't just be sneaking off to get drunk.

BTW, DC WFLers - I still have a SHIT TON of real booze (read: not Boone's, though I've got a little of that, too) left from my party. I'm thinking we need to do a pre- or post- holiday something or other... any thoughts?

Josephus said...

I could go for three drinks if the party is starting now. I need to be home by 7.

HaterTot said...

I can meet folks at 5:15 and probably not have my boss regret the promotion.

Anonymous said...

I've been dragging today, wishing for a reason to leave, an excuse if you will. The last couple hours on Friday are totally unproductive. So yeah, WFD. Where for drinks? And i'm probably on your 7pm schedule Jo, need to save energy for tomorrow.

Josephus said...

e-que, ethics, watchdog, maybe rosie, let's do this now. pick a joint. I know one...

HaterTot said...

I'll meet you guys at Bravo at 5:15. Rosie - meet us at Bravo for a drink or two, then we can go to Best Cellars after.

Did I just make a plan?
