As with the office, do I have the blog all to myself?
What do you think I should get at the Berghoff today, Lester?

16 servings of cheap pilsner last night? Attracted to a 6” seafood sandwich you saw being ordered and need someone to talk to? Feel like something pasta-y, but not exactly? This is what terrorizes our nation’s workers every day. It is ever-present, in the back of our minds--riding on the train, up the elevator, in that meeting. But these are simply facets of the one great question. The answer to which must be provided before we can ever grasp contentment. What’s for lunch?

I'm thinking maybe a fried halibut sandwich. Some german potato salad on the side?
Whoa!!! That's EXACTLY what I was thinking!
I'm might even have a lager or two!
Tee hee. You're crayzee! I'm in!
Um. I'm in the office, too. But I appear to be intruding on a private conversation.
U so crazzzzy
I didn't see you guys there. Hi!!!!
(Phew.)
no one here at work, my only cube area mate has left for the day already. eatin' ritz bits crackers, plotting lunch
I'm here too, but only for a couple hours, and then it's time to jump on a train and head to The Harbor. I'm noy even sure if I will be eating lunch, maybe just more coffee and nibbling on the chocolate in the office kitchen, and a couple smokes. Me so healthy.
There are two people here today, including me. The other happens to be my immediate boss. He's cool, but probably not pop down to the Osco and grab a six pack cool. Certainly not sit at my desk naked cool. I think he's leaving soon, though.
I don't think my boss would mind if I sat at my desk naked.
Lester, I would have to say though that if you are going to the Berghoff you have to get some kind of sausage and sauerkraut, and of course a couple lagers.
Why do you insist on keeping me away from halibut?
In honor of Christmas (and also b/c the Run DMC rap yesterday reminded me), I'd like to present as much as I can remember (and probably in the wrong order) of this song that was from one of those early-80s breakdancing movies - Beat Street or possibly Breakin'.
Ho, ho, ho.
Open up yo door.
I'm Santa Claus,
And here's what y'all.
I got something to show.
I came to bring some Christmas spirit,
I got a big bag, now guess what's in it.
Some for the rich, some for the poor,
So, Merry Christmas, and Ho ho ho!
Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas, my foot.
I'ma tell ya what Santa {something something}
I don't know what you're talkin about,
Cuz I when I come to your town I just get chased out.
I thought you would be happy to see Santa Claus,
But all you say is 'stick em up' and 'gimme yours'.
{something something something} reality,
Looks nothing like a decorated pole to me. (or something?)
Man, you talk about a tree,
It makes me wonder,
Cuz I never had a tree to put anything under.
And I ain't even got a chimney for you to come down.
So there's no need for you to be comin' around.
Cuz after my last 2 Christmas nights,
If I see you 'round my neighborhood I'll shoot you on sight.
{something about GI Joe being GI gay}
What is Christmas for?
What is Christmas for??
What is Christmas for?
Yeah, what is Christmas for?
Wind up toys that don't wind up
Talkin dolls that don't shut up
{something something}
Then that's what you'll have to settle for.
{something about welfare check not coming through or something and having nothing to eat}
I ate Dancer, Prancer, Donner, Blitzen,
Fried em up and then started to mix em
And before you knew it, they were all gone
I wonder whatcha gonna do about my reindeer song?
And there's more, but I forget. Hm, I might have to dig out that vinyl on the big day.
Oh God, I did steer you away from the halibut at Moe's the other night, didn't I? And I do believe you settled on a sausage that I encouraged. I am sure a more twisted and dirty mind would be making jokes about you opting for fish and me opting for sausage, but I'm not going there.
I'm jealous of Rico and Jo going shopping together in EL tonight and eating at Teco.
Having lunch at my desk, and its goood. gourmet buffet assortment of good stuff. highlights:
california rolls
sweet and sour chicken
asparagus
El Az, i'm jealous too. Love that CV sauce. Jade, are you a cc or cv girl?
I better just get salad.
Does it make me a bad person that everytime I hear 'O Holy Night' I think of that Simpson's where Homer's voice changed and I laugh? Hee hee.
I should get a salad, too. But I want something hot. Like a Philly cheesesteak. Or Panda Maxx. Oink.
CV sauce all the way. I order a little side dish of it as well, and dip my chips in it. I eat a lot of chips between the cheese dip, the salsa and the CV sauce.
I'm getting so little done. But I don't want to leave!
I think I'm alone here now.
New plan, might be going to play some poker at the bar in a little bit. That might drag me away from this place.
Who are you going to throw cards with, Lester?
The rowdy boys. The sadistic group of friends (from the greater BH/SJ area) that I've had since the first grade or before.
Are you going to go out while in BH at all? Li'l sweet cherry resort action?
I usually don't go out much in BH, besides several trips to Meijers and maybe a movie or two. My time there is usually spent at the house eating, hanging with the fam, car time with Guy and walks on the beach. What is the Sweet Cherry Resort? Have I been missing out on something spectacular in the BH?
The SCR is right up M-63, but I don't think you don't want to go there. Truth be told, I've never been there. You're missing nothing. You are optimizing your time, no question.
I meant to say:
I don't not think you don't want to go there.
Sorry for the confusion.
It's OK I am fluent in deciphering unintended double negatives. Or something like that.
One of Guy and I's favorite holiday traditions is to actually drive around on Christmas Day and see if we can find street walkers. That sounds really bad. It's not in order to pick them up or to be mean to them or feel morally superior, it's just to see if we can and if they are actually out there. So far we have been successful every year since our first Christmas in BH in 98.
That would be almost too easy in BH.
If you pass Babe's on Riverview Dr in BH, Mickey's on Main St or The Sandbar on Lakeshore in SJ, you're seeing some of Lester's old haunts. Especially Mickey's. That was the original "sit around and count the teeth" bar. **sigh**
And if you get really adventurous, you can go check out my boyhood home.

Blogger's inability to accommodate links is really a pain.
Ha ha, you are too funny. I have been to the Sandbar, and we just might have to drive past the origin of Lester during one of our car time excursions.
I'm finally getting around to lunch. See yinz!
Alright, I'm out. Hooray for early closures! Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Eatings this holiday weekend!
Wow. I finally get to the 'burgh, figure out how to make the interweb work at Dear 'ol Dad's and everyone's already gone.
Well, should someone check in, dad made sausage and peppers, which was a lovely surprise waiting for me when I got home.
Safe travels, all!
What's with the Halibut, by the way?
Still here, Presidente.
I had a steak ultimo from baja. First one of those in a while. I took a whole bottle of Cholula, too, which I feel kind of bad about. But I figure I'll work off my guilt in burritos. While in line I check out the burrito eatin' scene. Still trying to figure out Rico's thing. It's like he's saying down is up. I'm not getting it at all.
I like halibut. It's one of my favorite fleshes. I tend to at least WANT to order it everytime I see it on a menu. For some reason, however, EVERY SINGLE TIME I lean towards such an order when THE JADE's around, she tries to step in an block my order. Well, not just tries -- I've been halibut-free since knowing her.
I don't know what gives.
Internet at dad's is dodgey, at best. Ugh. I'm going to have to do something about that if I'm going to make it here a week.
I love the ultimo. It's my go to BF order.
My father and I have realized that we decided what we'd have xmas day (steak and lobster) but forgot about xmas eve. I know it's late in the day, but any suggestions? (dad's not an especially adventurous eater) And don't say Halibut. Though, I don't really know the diff. between any Halibut or cod or flounder or any other white-ish fish.
Too much wine. Too much car time. I'm feeling fine. Is it santa time?
