happy new years eve eve

hola all! happy new years eve eve!

before i head off to the lovely dc dmv to give up my california license (sniff, sniff), i wanted to just comment on how i've finally gotten to the last piece of old pizza in my fridge. this means that now i REALLY have to think about what to have for lunch today. especially since i'll be probably still waiting in line at the dmv come noon or so.

so send your positive lunch vibes my way folks. i'll be gone most of today running errands before everything shuts down this weekend for the holidays. please feel free to share your festive (or not so festive) NYE plans. i hope it involves food. i know that i envision a trip to ben's chili bowl at around 2am on new years day....

so kids, WFL?

Happy NYE EVE! WFLers!

Attention DC crew, the missus and I are having a small NYE Eve party tonight at our spot in NW DC. All of you are invited. Very low key and low pressure get-together for our DC friends before you all go to Times Square or wherever tomorrow night.

If you are in town and interested let me know and I'll get you the info.

My lunch today will be a deli sandwich of some sort. Hopefully So's Your Mom Deli. I'll give details later.

I shall be there Jo!

Except, I'm finding it hard to get my shit together and get on the road because I am ridiculously hungover from drinking wwwwwwaaaaaayyyy too much homemade wine at my Godparents' last night. Jeez. You'd think I'd know better by now, but I obviously don't. I have to say that even sober, the funniest thing ever was asking my Godparent's daughter's daughter to say "I love fishes!" which comes out as, "I love bitches!"

My back hurts. I don't know what's for lunch. I just need to stop hurting and get in the car. Ugh.

Good morning WFLers and Happy New Years! I am at home today with the Ace and have just enjoyed a nice breakfast of scrambled eggs, turkey sausages, whole wheat toast and tea.

I'm staying in this weekend with Ace with the intention of relaxing, watching movies, reading and COOKING. Today we will make the cheese dip [recipe courtesy of Watchdog, MWAH!] and tacos and virgin daquiris. Tomorow I'm going Southern with a terribly labor intensive chicken and adouille sausage gumbo, white rice and homemade cornbread and spiked lemonade. It's one of my favorite meals to make, but it takes so long and is full of rarified ingredients like okra, andouille, and file powder, that I rarely like it. I'm feeling generous, so I think The Ex husband might be getting some because it was his favorite meal, too.

Ugh Ethics, I feel your pain. Driving with a hangover suuuuuuucks. I think Jamocha milkshakes from Arby's can be helpful, or of course my favorite -- the largest coke possible from McDonalds. Be safe driving, hun!

There's something special about the homemade Italian wine hangover. It's dull and long lasting; not acute like some other types of hangovers. I think two more diet cherry cokes and I should be able to get on the road.

I need to investigate the boat load of food I brought home from the party last night. The only thing I remember that's in there is a vat of clams casino, but I know that's absolutely not what I want right now.

I'm v. excited about Jo's fete tonight. I get to make (and eat) my yummy black eyed pea salsa a night early!

If everything goes well tonight, this pre NYE party may become a regular thing. NYE always seems to disappoint me somehow, now with a pre NYE celebration there is no pressure to preform...

Just had a delicious bacon and egg scramble. Preparing for the trip to Costco in the new Josephusmobile.

I will still be using the bus 5 days a week.

I take the bus sometimes too - but I'm still a DRIVER. An AUTOMOBILE OWNER. Just like you, Jo!

I'm never giving drunken piggy back rides to three little girls again. My back is killing me almost worse than my head.

Hola amigos y amigas.

Today's lunch is orange flavored Airborne with a side of cherry flavored Riiiiiiiicoooooolllllaaaa.

As for NYE, I've never been a fan of the $100 open bar deals at the hip places that I don't normally go to anyway. Why should I give them my money?

The past couple years I've either been working or at house parties, but this time around we're hitting the Zakopane Lounge. The Polkaholics are playing. That's punk rock polka my friends. "Who stole the kishka?" I love that the cover charge is $4.99.

Now if I can just shake this stuffy nose/sore throat combo platter...

quite a productive morning WFLers. my trip to the dmv only took 15 to 20 minutes! isn't that unheard of? thank god for the georgetown mall dmv. less people and faster service. only drawback is my new license picture, which makes my forehead look like an oil slick.

haven't eaten lunch due to a gigantic bagel i consumed earlier. but jo's mentioning of so's your mom is making my mouth water. but since i have walked all over today, i am too tired to venture back out to adams morgan. perhaps i'll go down to dos gringos for my favorite sandwich, the super avocado: multigrain, avocado, hard-boiled egg, garlic mayo, tomato, roasted red peppers, and lettuce. mmm mmm mmm!
