Last Night I Dreamt of Sausages

Ensconced in my Hot Doug's t-shirt, I had pleasant dreams of fresh rolls, and peppers and onions and kielbasas and italian sausages and exotic encased meats from around the world. But alas, I am still cleansing. Today is Day 10 - the last day. I go forward with a new respect for the food, and the midday meal in particular. Today I'll be having raspberry seltzer and the last of the lemon-y cleanser. But tell us - what will YOU be having for lunch today?

I am hungry today.
A trip to SOHO for the gourmet buffet is in order.

Dear Lord,

Potbelly’s smoked ham and swiss. No pickles, heavy on the giardinera and mayo.

Amen.

My boss did that to me on Monday.
I couldn't enjoy a single bite.

My boss found out he's going to be a grampa over the weekend and hasn't come out of his office all week!

Even if I were eating, I'm way too busy today. I'm raising money hand over fist, and everyone wants to talk to me. I could use a cocktail though.

p.s.,

and macaroni salad.

It seems that Jessica and Nick have split up.

We should all be eating tuna and buffalo wings and drinking Miller Lite (and apparently whiskey on the rocks) in homage.

Welcome Spoilsport!!

I don't know jack about saturated fat, but what about some chicken fried rice with an eggroll?

Welcome, spoilsport. Always good to have a new What'sForLuncher.

I hear you on the Chinese. You could try to get something light on the sauces, and not fried (ie no General Tso's), or just skip it altogether and opt for a salad bar. Where are you posting from?

At my old job we used to have birthday happy hours...IN THE OFFICE.

That was great.

I always ask for Champagne and cupcakes (vanilla; whipped cream frosting, thank you - red velvet is also acceptable). I've not gotten this yet. Luckily, my birthday almost never falls on a workday, and if it does, I take it off. Though, once, I got Chinese food, which I suppose was nice. But that Birthday Buddy bullshit is lame. I'm surprised we don't have that here, but thankfully we do not. My birthday is on the Saturday of a holiday weekend this year, anyway, so I'm in the clear for sucky office birthday bs.

My office used to do the happy hour thing, too. They took it away and blamed it on some dram shop liability bs, but I think it was the time that my co-worker and I were playing quarters in the kitchen until @ 8:30 after deciding that we should finish every drop of booze in the office. That was the night I fell asleep on the train and ended up at the corner of 100 and somethingth and cottage grove at 1 a.m.

Our office does birthmonth celebrations, which I guess is not really so bad, compared to some alternatives. E.g., all the October babies get together and decide how to spend $300. It's usually a lunch, sometimes breakfast -- always BYO :(

I will take this opportunity to invite my fellow What's For Lunchers to my [insert age here] birthday celebration on Saturday November 26, 2005 in Washington, DC. All I know is it won't be lame, and there will be booze and cupcakes involved. And midgets, if I'm lucky.

Stay tuned for updates.
