It is Friday and it is pouring outside.
Usually this kind of weather can cause Lunch decision hell, but luckily I am off to a work lunch at "Washington's best kept secret" Fran O'Brien's http://www.fobss.com/
Sucks to not be me today. As always your ordering suggestions are appreciated, and I would be remiss if I didn't ask you...WFL?

Welcome new lunchophiles.
awreck, you are correct, I do have a dinner engagemnet to attend this evening, but it isn't until after 8:00 so I can afford to do it up at the steakhouse. Can we assume you will be having a Wreck from Potbelly?
I would never pass a Friday fish and chips special. Side of sautéed green beans. Pint of ale.
If that “chef’s soup” is a NE clam chowder, however…with a BLT…side of sautéed spinach. Pint of lager.
Those are some Friday lunches, my friend!
You are right on, abunai. Soup is a must. I might look around for a chowder myself. Maybe even chili if they have it going on at the Gourmet Pantry. Hey, this could be my chance to check out ABP! That's it!
Think I'll make some chicken noodle tonight if I don't go out.
NEWS FROM THE ROAD: ethicsrock is in the Detroit Airport and after thinking she would have a liquid lunch of bloody mary's, she spied a venue that sells only peanut butter based sandwiches. She will be dining on a fluffernutter with bananas before she takes off for Austin, TX.
Well, I got my clam chowder, but it was a total letdown. Thin and oily with undercooked potatoes. Side salad, too, on which I put something I almost never do – ranch dressing. Makes me feel rednecky.
It cold and rainy and I want to go home and put my pjs on, drink cheap scotch in bed, and watch baseball.
What'd you end up getting, Jo?
red crab soup.
ribeye sandwich cajun style.
ginger ale
coffee.
More talking than eating.
sigh...
One of our new posters "schoollunchlady" wrote her friday lunch under yesterdays topic.
We all forgive you, you are new.
I will reprint it for her below:

"This morning I was running late. Last night I planned to make a turkey and pepperoni sandwhich with mustard and tomatoe on rye. But, my plans were foiled by my alarm clock volume being set to low. I had to run out of the house. I grabbed a yogurt drink (from safeway, see yesterday's post) and a granola bar because I was out of Luna bars. I drank the yogurt drink at 10:00 am and was starving by noon. At noon, I went to the school's caferia and saw that there were nachos and cheese for sale. The sale of these items benefited our student's trip to Candada. I decided to support a good cause. I bought a small try of Nachos and asked the student to add the hot green peppers. This cost $3.00. I was happy to support a good cause.
I just reached into my backpack and found a crushed granola bar. I need to place the granola bars in my outter back pack pocket to avoid furhter crushing."
