Happy Mondays

I'm back at the homestead office and getting that familiar 11:00 tummy grumble. It's time to start thinking about the most important meal of the day. I am a blank slate today (as opposed to others) and I'm in serious need of professional help...with regards to lunch.

I need food that will motivate me to have a productive afternoon.

Any ideas?

Hmmm... I'm channeling 7 days of fasting into my answer here, and the thing that keeps coming to mind is a turkey club on wheat toast, extra mayo - with chips and a pickle. Perhaps some chicken noodle soup, as well - though, I'm not convinced of that. OH, but what would be delightful on the club is hard boiled egg and perhaps a slice of avocado.

Upon review, it seems I want a turkey cobb... sandwich?

Ethics, you may have made this very easy...

Okay - just got a new craving. (if I get like this while fasting, I can't imagine what the cravings would be like if I were ever pregnant)

Fluffer Nutter with bananas, on white toast. Kind of a dessert sandwich. Yes. That is precisely what it is.

I think I should have a cup of mint tea, and calm down.

I'm in the mood for a chicken breast sandwich, but I have no idea from where. Has to be quick though, 'cause this Monday's kickin' my arse. Might have to be Wendy's...maybe even subway.

Soup doesn't sound bad, either, but it's unseasonably muggy in Chi-digs. There will be no shortage of soup days in the coming days, weeks, months...

Nice choice Rico. I seem to be craving the cobb today.

I'm so damn tired today. This no caffeine shit is catching up with me. I am in serious need of a nap.

After meeting Josephus to pick up a sack of lucre from such far flung locales as Seattle and Cleveland and Chicago (I am now the proud owner of a Hot Dougs t-shirt - many thanks, Jo) I wandered around town a bit to try to clear my head. And then, I did something.

I impulsively bought a bottle of Vitamin Water. This is not fast-approved, AND I'm fundamentally opposed to "improved" water, but I felt like the Energy water would give me renewed vigor, with it's kicky citrus flavor and ginseng boost. I feel really guilty about this slip in the fasting, but I think in the grand scheme, it's forgiveable. It's not like I went out and got a burrito, right?!

Thank you, What'sForLunchers, for hearing this confession. You can take the girl out of the Church, but you can't get her to kick that whole Confessing will Absolve You thing.

Are we just rolling with yesterday's post? How frugal!

Remember Jeff Smith, the Frugal Gourmet? That was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I bid him peace.

I have a lunch date with an old school chum of mine. He told me to pick a place, but I'm not sure what to do. Last time he paid for a fairly expensive lunch (expensed it), but I don't want to be presumptuous. If I'm paying my own way, Potbelly's sounds good. If he's expensing, it's a whole different ballgame. Maybe I'll go with the Thai place down the street. He should tell me before ordering that he's expensing it, right? That way I could go high end, or just hit the reasonably priced coconut milk curry and be happy either way. I guess I didn't need any help working that out, but it's nice of y'all to work as a sound board for me.
