Regional Specialties...

I happened to think about this as I clicked on the link to hotdougs.com and realized that I have no idea what a Chicago Style Hot Dog is. What is it? What other regional specialties are there our there? NY slice. Chicago Style Pizza. CA mexican. Let's start chatting about some unknowns or favorites of ours.

I'm getting crunched at day's end. Sorry to leave you linked, but this is a pretty good answer.

Let's see, to represent from my hometown:

Chipped Ham Sandwiches
The famous Primanti's sandwich
Can I claim pierogies?
Steak Salads with fries and sweet and sour dressing
Eat n' Park smiley faced cookies (not really a specialty, per se - but only available locally)

I was recently in Ottawa where I experienced the bliss that is poutine and smoked meat sandwiches.

Jo - don't forget about softcrab sandwiches for this area!
