“Ask not what you can do for your country, ask what's for lunch.”
So, to follow in his footsteps, I ask you: WFL?
(I have no ideas today. Maybe a salad? This is the kind of day where I would typically IM Josephus and ask him to point me in the right direction.)

I have a hankerin' for chicken salad, actually. We have a place here called Soprafina where you can go and select a lunch of three different salads. All sorts of pasta, bean, chicken, etc. I'm kickin' that idea around.
Is Thursday typically a "long night" in the world of ethics? If so, salad might not cut it, not alone, anyway.
Ha. The World of Ethics. I should not be seen as a representative of such a world. They just let me live there sometimes, and advise me that I should get a more ethical hero. But really, for a girl who loves the lunch - I ask, what's wrong with Martha Stewart as my hero?
Moving on, this particular Thursday is not going to be a long night. I head home to the 'burgh tomorrow for luncheon delights that can make a grown man cry. So I'm staying in this evening to prepare for that journey.
Pasta salad is an interesting idea though... I need to think on that one.
Well, I just got the call that the battle is on directly after work. I need a heavy base. I think this calls for the Gyros Platter.
Herbie - are you drinking tonight? If so, meatball sub is a great option. Otherwise, I find it to be a bit heavy, especially if I have an afternoon where I need to be alert and not sleepy.
Glad to help. I'm not sure I would've moved to pasta.
But as long as you're happy!
(I've still not eaten; I'm totally clueless as to what I want)
What the?!?!?!
Why am I staring at a footlong subway sandwich on my desk?
How did this happen?
Herbie!!!
You guys default to Subway like I default to Au Bon Pain! Actually, I really default to breadline, but as far as chains go, it's ABP.
Which, explains my tasty Mediterranean Wrap - which they're now serving with a lemon wedge, a nice touch I think.
But that does not in any way mitigate the fact that one of the olives in my wrap STILL HAD A PIT!!! I could have lost a damn tooth!
(Rounding out the meal: Diet Coke, Perrier and an oatmeal raisin cookie)
Two beverages...ok. Why not...I guess. No, wait...yes, that seems odd to me.
I either have coffee or water with lunch, with very little exception. Water today.
You've been hittin' the cookies pretty hard, ethics. Stressed out?
I don't really drink coffee, but I like beverages - a lot. Diet Coke is always never more than six inches from my hand during the day, but I thought some water would be good for me.
The cookies are a function of needing something sweet that isn't chocolate combined with for the first time in my adult life, not having a cvs in the block of my office, and therefore being unable to readily obtain the sugar free (or regular, sugared - if I'm feeling saucy) gummi bears of which I'm so fond, in addition to work being crazy (even though I'm not busy, per se today - I hate everyone), and my general afternoon lag. Plus, they're just right there, so tasty and pretty in the ABP. And I don't keep sweet food in my house, so this is like a one time deal. Except those freezy pops. I've got those around. They taste nice in vodka, but that's a discussion for another time.
Did you at least choose something from subway that will fulfill its duties as a base for this evening's imbibery?
A BMT. I don't know. Is that a duty-fulfilling selection? I'm in a hating everyone mood myself this afternoon and starting to think that maybe heading directly to my couch for some bad television is the best option I have.
I've never seen a James Bond movie and I'm not starting just because AMC has been playing them constantly for the last month or whatever.
I also dislike jazz...and people.
Dipso - I eat at Subway so rarely, I don't even know what a BMT is.
I'm currently the target of a multi-pronged attack aimed at getting me to go to happy hour. While, most of me doesn't want to - I'm tired, I hate everyone, work is dumb, I want to go to the gym - there's that other part that some might say "has a problem" and just really likes the bar and its contents.
Bad TV rocks. If it were September 8, you could go home and watch the season premiere of The OC. Since it's not, you might be interested in 2 hours of Being Bobby Brown - including the finale.
I may have just convinced myself to stay in with a few vodka iced teas and the Brown family.
