a little older...a little wiser...a little hungrier

I came across our dear departed blog the other night and spent some time browsing through the remnants of what used to be...the yesteryears...the good ol' days. It’s been awhile kids…and even in our short hiatus…times have changed. We have sprung out of our youthful blissful 20’s/early 30's and are in the midst of our more mature and grounded (ha)..selves...uhh..well...older 30’s. Well…at least we all probably spend a little more time focusing on work, families, loved ones. Many of you have settled down...fallen into wedded bliss...and some even have started the next generation of OWFL (version 2.0). We are focused on our jobs, building our career path…maybe even finding a new one. We have branched out in other areas of life – new faces, new places, new adventures. Has all this change affected our lunching habits? Do we all still eat lunch? Do we think about it for hours anymore, or just grab what we can when we can? What is the new, the standard, the old favorite lunching watering holes that suddenly became a Walgreens drugstore overnight? Whatever happened to Quizno’s Salads (quiznos salads quiznos salads)?? I do recall a post of the past about lunch trucks…I haven’t come across it yet…but if anyone can find it, I’d be interested in seeing if anyone predicted the recent FOOD TRUCK CONVENTION that DC recently had. The DC OWFL crew really missed the boat on that one…it had mini-convention written all over it. Sigh. Next time! I just can’t help but wonder who would’ve been the hottest girl at the food truck bar…

Well, we don’t have as much time to devote to our daily banter, but I think it would be nice to catch up every now and again…perhaps…over lunch!

WFL?????

In solidarity,
Lady A

Total throwback to OWFL the early days - I hit the Perfect Pita - where I used to frequent when I first became an OWFLer when I was working in Old Town. New location in Foggy Bottom. Chicken gyro and tater chips. I feel like I'm 25 again!!!

Aw, fun! Sigh. I miss those days. I had a salad with chicken on it from home. Boring. There were leftover sandwiches in the kitchen. I probably should have snagged one. Probably gone now. Sigh! Maybe I'll go get some free fruit.

I had Indian buffet at Capitol Hill Tandoor (my least favorite of the Indian joints on the Hill). It was adequate and filling. I now smell like curry!

Super Yay!

I know that in the past few years, we haven't been on a complete hiatus. We tried a few lunch related posts on the Facebook. We even went in to the word press site and put up a few posts that even pulled down a few comments. but it's nice to be back here at the old BLogger site.

Since last we got together as a community, I have become the Viceroy of Nutrition in my family. Also, I have a family now too. That just means that I'm the cook. I'm pretty good. But lunch is not on the Viceroy's menu. Lunch is on your own.

Which frequently means I eat in a public school cafeteria. Today I did not. I spent my lunch 30 minutes arranging for a substitute for the next two days.

While we're being nostalgic, remember TV lunch?

My new favorite is "Teach: Tony Danza" It's brilliant... if you're in the same field as me.

Also. Diz. Great to hear from you. In Dallas eh? You should get something that tastes like it is 1 - 4. Something like a loser sandwich, or an overhyped burger.

There was also a short lived DC Cornhole blog. Long live lunch though. Blogger rules. At least for now.

I also had a throwback lunch-- a giant chicken salad sandwich from the bagel joint across the street. Oh how I've missed OWFL!
