"The Best Laid Plans..."

Here we are one day in and it looks like we need to do some schedule juggling.

Expect a Conference recap post this week, not sure exactly which day though (THURSDAY!).

I will say that in this Czar's opinion it was a near perfect weekend (a few hiccups; tee-shirts, weather). I think everyone is agreed that we have to have these conferences at least once a year and that once a season might be too much for our bodies to take.

As I said HT and TAFKALC will be giving us their Conference recap later this week (THURSDAY!), but I invite the conference participants to share a favorite memory of the weekend with those unfortunate OWFLers who couldn't make it. I am also curious to hear what the non-attending OWFLers kept busy with this weekend while the rest of us were watching microwave death matches, drinking banned liquids, sweating our asses off at Chief Ike's and eating the best damned birthday cake ever.

So look for an updated schedule before the end of the day, and tell us about your non-conference weekend or a memory from your conference weekend and of course don't forget to tell the most important thing...WFL?

I think the czar's birthday cake was one of the most hilarious and delicious baked goods I have ever had the pleasure of consuming in my life. My respect for the culinary delights produced by Unicorn are unmatched by any one else. I ate so many of the wings and the titty cakes I should still be full. The Saturday night meal at Rose's was amazing. I still can't believe how much food was there.

Sorry - there was a hiccup this morning, and TAFKALC is home sick, and I won't do a full on post from the office. It's coming though. Perhaps even with pictures.

I'm going to Uni for all of my baked goods needs from now on. I'll even pay! Best cakes ever. And customized! Amazing.

No idea WFL... I am poor and fat, so taking those two factors into account, I'm thinking hard boiled eggs from abp (since I didn't have time to bring anything from home) and the gym.

I think I'm still full (had the rest of the wings for dinner last night, sorry Mr. Uni).

I think I may just have some soup.

I put up the new schedule. E-mail me if anyone has any issues (sorry e-que).

Something(s) must have worn me down this weekend cuz this morning I was so tired after an 8 hour sleep that I called in sick. Just woke up. Not sure if the aching in my stomach is hunger or real sickness. bUt I should probably eat something.

Perhaps the convention was so much fun my mojo tank is on empty, must refuel!

Oh my goodness...this weekend was the most gluttonous I've had since the deep-fry superbowl party. THANKS guys for all the "sweet" compliments!! It is my pleasure! BUT Shout-outs to EVERYONE on all the fabulous food that was provided! I tried everything and it was ALL great! I had happy flavors dancing in mouth all night long!

I had a great time with old friends and new ones, and can't wait till the next conference! But first, let me lose the 5 extra pounds that I'm toting around right now! You know...there's only one thing better than good friends...drunk ones that can cook their arses off!!

I didn't pack my lunch today out of laziness, but I still needed something on the lighter side. I found this little eatery called PICNIC on L St between 19th and 20th. If anyone works down in this area, you should check it out if you want something quick. Not too expensive and a bit healthier. They have an array of fresh salads in two sizes and several sandwiches. I picked up a veggie sandwich on wheat w/perfectly sliced cucumbers, radishes, arugula and a cumin infused neufental (sp?), and a green salad topped with roasted red peppers, pine nuts, feta and balsamic ving. dressing. I've only had half of the sandwich so far but it was tasty, really fresh and crisp.

And if I ever open my own cafe or bakery...perhaps I'll just name it "WFL?"!!

I laughed harder at the Peep fights than I have in a long time. And I found out the correct way to make them fight! I think. They're supposed to poke each other so they deflate! Ah well. It was still funny. And the second fight turned out to be porny.

My favorite memory nobody's mentioned was me & Uni having issues with the sangria dispenser. I'll try to recap the conversation for you here:
Uni: Oh no! It won't stop!
Turtle: Why don't you turn it off?
Uni: The thing fell off!
Turtle: (looking around) Where did it go?!?
Uni: In my drink!
Turtle: Oh. Oh! Oh no!!
Various glasses were filled & the room was filled with the desperate gasps of people who can't catch their breath from laughing too hard. It was a near disaster, I tells ya!

Lunch today was the last slice of muffalatta. Mmmmm . . . so good after marinating all weekend - the bread was totally soaked through with olive oil.

Oh my god, all that food was soooooo goooooooooood - everyone are awesome chefs! Sigh - I wish I had some more of, well, everything really! The paprikash (sp?), the tar pit wings, the korean stew, the pasta salad, and oh my god, that birthday cake! You have set the bar high, Uni!

i'm like watchdog and sick at home. i had zero sleep last night due to a random psycho wrong number who called me over and over and over at 2am this morning. i finally picked it up only to get cussed out while half asleep. strange. she totally put me in a bad mood so i couldn't fall asleep until 3am.

lunch today...probably nibble on my left over kalbi from saturday. though someone downstairs cooked bacon or something and it smells real good in my apartment right now.

i have the peep fights on video, and i am working with diz to put that online. it'll be enjoyed by all OWFLers. the best captured conversation was:

mr. uni: "i think we need new peeps"
rosie-que: "you know i've been saying that about you guys for years."

jade - i know you got some actual pics of the food spread at rosie-que's...i hope that they can be shared with us soon!

i think i may run out and buy some bacon and avocado to make a BALT...we'll see if my tired sick ass can make it out of the house today.

LT - thank you for sharing that sangria moment with me! You will forever hold a special place in my heart!! The funniest part of that was when rosie-que came in and said "why are you on the floor pouring the sangria straight into your mouth??!!"

The only thing I didn't like was the secret-squirrel run to Five Guys on Sunday by a select OWFL trio...I never did get my room-temp burger...

So when are those shirts getting here, Jo?

LizTurtle said...

Oh, sorry, nevermind. I just checked my email.

I friggin give up. Today was a REALLY bad day at work.

i'm so excited about having the t-shirts. i think rico secretly called the t-shirt company and had them sent elsewhere so he wouldn't be surrounded by 13 people wearing his face. i guess that would be eery.

i finally got to the market to buy avocados, bacon, tomatoes, and some bread. i walked all the way back home only to discover that i forgot the essential part of the BALT -- LETTUCE! dammit. i ate it anyway...it was tasty. i even put a little garlic powder in my mayo for an extra kick.

now, i'm sitting and staring out the window. sort of afraid of going back to sleep or else i won't be able to sleep again tonight. kitty is also sitting on my legs, so i can't scoot down to lay fully on the sofa...damn cat.

sorry your work day has been so crappy diz. i bet doing tech support with me this morning didn't help.

No worries laChoi. It wasn't you.

One of my favorite quotes of the weekend was said by Unicorn: "I think I am hallucinating off of your breath."
