16 servings of cheap pilsner last night? Attracted to a 6” seafood sandwich you saw being ordered and need someone to talk to? Feel like something pasta-y, but not exactly? This is what terrorizes our nation’s workers every day. It is ever-present, in the back of our minds--riding on the train, up the elevator, in that meeting. But these are simply facets of the one great question. The answer to which must be provided before we can ever grasp contentment. What’s for lunch?

No comments?! What a travesty! I love this post.
That is my baby Barney in the first picture. He is the most un-cat-like cat you will ever meet. In fact, it's been said that I 'broke' him, something about crimes against nature. Barney also does impressions of Abraham Lincoln, Salvatore Dali and Stevie Wonder and he's hygenically challenged. Oh, and Barney does ice skating jumps and gymnastics. He doesn't clean himself - ever. Well, he cleans the white bits, but never the black.
For lunch, in Barney's ideal world, it would be a meat and dairy extravaganza - which is exactly what he gets on his birthday, every year. Ice cream, sour cream, yogurt, whipped cream, chicken, steak, and potato chips. Oh, and he likes beer, too. And girly frozen drinks. (Barney is a wee bit gay, not that there's anything wrong with that)
Yeah, but my baby isn't in there. Kinda hurt here.
Today is lo-carb monster with sandwich and other things.
Diz, Jade, Peep, send me your pics for Volume 2. I imagine pet blogging may come around about once a month.
The last pic is of Clemmie and Winston (Winston is still a kitten in that picture).
If this lunch blog fails to make me my first million, then I will start pimping out my cats' amazing fetching and catching abilities. They aren't big on people food so they rarely affect the missus and my lunching habits.
I need a big sandwich today. I'm think about a sensa fundo from the Daily Market.
Spring break is over and I am back to school in the morning and working in the afternoon. I am taking an anatomy class and repeating another class I recently failed because I didn't bother to read the syllabus. This post is somewhat pertinent today because I learned this morning that I will be spending all term dissecting a cat. Yay! Can we get the identity of the rest of the pets, please.
I just checked the NY Post piece but I wasn't quoted, somewhat of a dissapointment, but then again maybe not.
I am too hungry for it only being 10:30. I have an orange somewhere in my back pack, maybe I need to eat it now to tide me over until lunch.
My cat is the 4th one down - grey & curled up in a suitcase. Cute, but, damn. Now I'm going to be hairy at my destination. Her name is Turtle - hence the blog name. The story of her name will be told at the conference, as per hatertot request. I haven't forgotten!
Interesting that as a whole, the OWFL crowd seems to be more cat people than dog people (well, I am actually more of a dog person, but am too lazy to have one - also would be harder to go straight to HH apres work - do not relish the idea of coming home to pee all over the house) - or at least more likely to take cat pictures.
My pussy is the cutest! She only weights like 7 lb. Which is great, b/c I always wanted a kitten, but not a cat. So she's about the closest thing you can get.
Lunch today is tofu ravioli with a bit of arrabiata sauce & some parmigiana. I discovered I am a huge moo (Fri nite HH didn't help) & have recommitted to getting off my butt & working & not eating so much. I have a small gladware of applesauce for later, too. Oooh, and atomic fireballs on my desk . . . .
Ok ok ok...so those are my ferrets...or really Mr. Uni's ferrets...anyways...they are animals that live in my apartment...
Philip is the grayish one, Butters/Professor Chaos is the yellow one because the others probably pee on him and Cooter is the black one with white eyebrows. Cooter is no longer under my care...he escaped last year and is now King of the Rats (of NIMH)in Mt. Pleasant.
I sound like an evil pet mom...but c'mon...they are ferrets...they show no love. They are entertaining little beasts and truly enjoyed them for the first year or two...but getting them was much like buying your child a pet guinea pig or hamster...except in my case it was my boyfriend and a ferret(s)...and they take up a lot more space and probably smell a lot worse...and you actually have to cut their nails, clean their ears and bathe them...and you must do all of this being fully aware that there will be NO affection or loyalty shown to you afterwards. Maybe they will eat your shoes and steal your keys, dig up your carpet and tear up the inside of your couch...but no resting on your lap, affectionate face licking, playing fetch or even crapping in a contained area.
They do make funny little noises though, and most importantly they
entertain(ed) Mr. Uni, made him happy and brought out the charming boyish quality that I love about him. So we keep them for now, BUT there have been talks of an upgrade pet...
BTW, I love them all. Goes to show that they aren't just Love but also for Lunch. :)
isn't that right L-roy\Giggles?
awww, mine is the sexy gray and white kitty on the flower bedspread...she's doing her famous playboy pose.
today is salad. i'm trying to prep for my bday festivities this weekend and the owfl conference fun the next...god only knows how bloated i will be from both.
I can't believe LT just opened that door.
I can't believe it took that long for someone to comment on it.
Vol. 2 e-que...Vol. 2
For the record: Cuban sandwich on ciabatta from Marvelous Market. Salt & vineger chips. Vitamin Water - Revive/Fruit Punch flavor.
I picked up some of their chunky curry chicken salad, for an afternoon snack.
yeah...if you can't tell Jo is a cat person...the ferrets got minimal love obviously from the teeny tiny picture...
I was being food today. So I stuck to the Turkey\cheese\wheat\SesameWasbai sandwich, carrots, planter's peanut cookies, and 16oz. of pure Caffiene and Taurine.
I may supliment later today with a gooey oatmeal raisen cookie from downstairs bakery.
I had egg drop soup, chicken lo mein and steamed dumplings for lunch today. I'm on a chinese food kick at the moment. Really, I've been craving sushi, but no one in the office will eat it besdies me.
Oh Jade, I'm so sorry. I am a sushi fiend. Given the impetus (and bank account), I would eat sushi every day.
Just had my oatmeal. Surprisingly more satisfying than I thought, considering it was a little less than 1/2 cup worth (in one of the teeny tiny round Gladware bowls). I sprinkled some cinnamon and (the clincher) nutmeg in it. It's the nutmeg that made it so tasty. And I still have a yogurt-pudding thing! I'm still not sure what it is. When I eat it, I will transcribe the label & see if anyone's heard of it.
Gah! Not oatmeal! Applesauce! WTF??
That was a good laugh! I have a suspicion that on my way home on the bus tonight...I'll think of your blog and burst out laughing in the midst of the silent rush hour commuters.
thanks LT!!!
Miu, my cats are both amazing fetchers, probably the best on the planet.
But I'm sure finn does a decent job.
Sorry about Sidney.
My 18 yr old cat Tootie passed on about a year ago. Best cat ever.
I find half eaten kitty treats when I move my chairs to vacuum under them.
i wish i could've written more about my lila (lee-lah) face. she doesn't like to eat any human food except for tuna. if i pop open a can, whether it be tuna or a can of beans (which she is just assuming is tuna due to the sound) she will run from the other side of the apartment and start meowing her freakin' head off.
i've let her lick some of my foods to see if she would like it. she does really take to anything. she does like my salmon in coconut milk though, and she likes to knock my swedish meatballs off of my plate and use it like a real ball. oh, and she likes milk.
everyday lila eats dry food...no wet. though when i give her wet food she just goes nuts like it's a special tasty treat.
she used to do acro"cat"ic tricks like flips in the air and whatnot. now she's just lazy and sleeps on me. she fortunately doesn't knock over glasses. i did teach her to fetch once, but no she'll have none of that now.
oh, and did i mention that she says "hello?" in meow-speak? i'll imitate it for you all sometimes. i swear to god, she does this every morning at my bedroom door. (meow wow?)
Animals are for eating, people.
oooh... ms. jade is in a bad mood....
