I forgot my pad thai again. My windows don’t open, and I’m only on the third floor anyway. Oh well, whatcha gonna do?
Have salad, I guess.
No, wait, I’m going to eat fruit. Hit the fruit bar over at that gourmet buffet. Pineapple, cantaloupe, strawberries…maybe a slice of kiwifruit. Oh, that they would have blueberries! Some cottage cheese, mayhaps…
President TT, I heard about that name change…sort of. I misunderstood and thought it was “HaterTot,” which I kinda liked. I’ll miss ethicsrocks, but welcome to your new self! I’m still searching…

TaterTot is gonna take some getting used to. I need some lunch help today. I am sure of only one thing, I am going to the Cap Grounds Deli. I just need a sandwich. They'll make anything to order. Help fellow WFLers!
I'd go turkey on rye with swiss, cole slaw and russian dressing.
If you get something with bacon, check before you leave.
Italian Sub Jo. I think that's what you need. Extra peppers. Chips on the side.
I really, really like HaterTot, but, in deference to "Hater", CSR's betrothed, I'll keep it at TaterTot. It's possible it could change again, but there's something about it that just clicked for me.
I just had to bail on the other name, mainly for my own blog adventures. I wanted to remove any allusion to the office if I am going to be posting scantily clad pics of my soon to be former body.
Plus, TaterTots are delicious lunch items, which, I try not to even begin eating, because I'll eat millions of them. I love them. Plus, President TaterTot sounds silly, and I like that.
TAKE THE SPRING CONFERENCE SURVEY, BITCHES!
Click here to take the survey. It closes at 6:00PM EST, so get crackin'.
josephus, i support the italian sub. but i'd get potato salad or mac salad just because.
tatertot, i thought you said that the name was taken? i'm glad that you are TT now. but HaterTot is hotter.
It's complicated. There's a difference I guess between a username and a blogger identity. As a username it was taken; as an identity not so much.
And, I really want HaterTot. I may have to make a special appeal.
Don't listen to them, Josephus! Go with the turkey swiss and slaw what I said. Please!!!
It's National Folic Acid Week , so it's a fitting time to give this essential vitamin the attention it deserves! Folate, the natural form of folic acid, is a B-vitamin found in many foods, including leafy green vegetables, beans, and asparagus. Folic acid, the synthetic form of the vitamin, is added to fortified foods (such as cereals) and is found in supplements. Both play a key role in healthy cell growth and also help in the production of red blood cells, which are important for fending off anemia. In addition to their other roles, folate and folic acid may improve cardiovascular health by teaming with vitamins B6 and B12 to lower homocysteine, an amino acid in the blood. An excess of homocysteine is linked to an increased risk of coronary heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, and stroke. Individuals with high homocysteine levels may also develop atherosclerosis, a buildup of plaque that causes the arteries to narrow and harden. "Meeting your folate requirements by increasing your intake of delicious, folate-rich foods will help moderate homocysteine levels," says Dr. Arthur Agatston, preventive cardiologist and author of The South Beach Diet™.
The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for folate is 400 micrograms for all adults. Women of childbearing age need to be particularly vigilant about meeting this requirement and, upon the recommendation of a physician, may need higher doses, since folate can prevent up to 70 percent of neural tube birth defects (such as spina bifida) and can also help prevent cleft lip and cleft palate.
Meeting your folate needs may have other benefits as well. Research suggests that folate may reduce the risk of colon, cervical, and breast cancers, and it has also been connected to the prevention of Alzheimer's disease by protecting the neurons necessary for learning and memory.
I get the best spam...
Rico, you can call me whatever you want if you change your alias to Horse Cock.
Love HaterTot. Ha ha!
Today for lunch I am going to the fancy-schmancy (and normally expensive!) Mandarin Oriental to eat at Cafe Mozu for Restaurant Week. Yay! My favorite week of the year! Don't know what will be available, but am looking forward to it!
Oh, and to DC peeps & visitors - Teatro Goldoni is orgasmic - even on the smaller Restaurant Week menu. So good. And the guy gave us $30 off $100 meal next time, so it's like we ate for free last night! Didn't drink for free, though, obviously.
I didn't get enough sleep AGAIN last night...it's OK, sometimes it's better to talk than sleep. But, I'm dragging ass today peeps. I want to deliver the death blow to my alertness and eat a chicken fajita burrito from Chipotle. Sorry horse cock, but at least I promise to not take any pictures of me eating it.
I think Jo should get roast beef and swiss, mayo and dijon, lots of lettuce, a little red onion, tomatoes on some kind of dark bread like pumpernickel. And maybe a fruit cup.
I love tater tot. I love it! I also love hater tot though, and it might be somehow more appropriate.
Teatro reminds me of the circus. I like it there, but all the purple and yellow and geometric prints kind of weirds me out. (it used to be a regular lunch spot, two jobs ago)
I'm sad I'm missing restaurant week. There's always the Spring one, though!
Eat for me, LT!
Hey, Jo - do they by any chance have jello at Cap Grounds? I forgot mine, and am looking for a fix.
I want to share with the group that my apartment is on the schedule to be fixed starting Thursday! Soon - no more mold! New paint job! New carpeting! I'm so excited! And if the guy was right, it will take 1 to 2 weeks. So I am tentatively planning my delayed holiday party for early February (11th or 18th?). Out-of-towners, you are more than welcome to come! Everyone - mark your calendars!! In pencil.
I'm so happy for you! This must be such a huge relief, LT! Sadly, I'll miss the holiday party, but it doesn't matter because soon you'll be mold-free, and that's all that really matters.
Back to my jello crisis - does anyone know where I can get jello in the vicinity of 17 & Penn? I have to go up to 17th & I in a bit, so somewhere between here and there would be swell.
Gracias.
I'll check on the jello. I'm off now. Here is what I think I'm ordering:
Hot Roast Beef Jalepeno - horseradish sauce, worcestershire sauce, with melted jalepeno havarti cheese on a sub roll.
I'll add l.t.o. hot peppers and some mayo.
Lizturtle- no more mold! That is monumental. I am shedding tears of joy for you at the mere thought of you having a mold free home after what you described.
dude...6 people have answered the survey, and 3 people said march 31st weekend and 3 people said may 5th.
WLFers, why do you all got to be so damn difficult?
TatorTot - CVS will have jello, i guarantee you.
Jo, I think you like your sandwiches a bit "saucier" than I do, but that's fitting because you are such a saucy lad. But, I think you are making the right call with the roast beef. I was just feeling it on your behalf when you solicited suggestions. Your new avatar is hilarious. I'm glad the old one is gone, it scared me.
Tater tot, do you have a 7-11 or some such place near your office? If it's a big, well stocked one they might have Jello cups in the refrigerated section.
Ooh - Tater, your surgery is 2/2, right? Hm. If I push it, maybe I can make it the 28th. I'll know more on Thursday.
Thanks, Jade! You have no idea how many tears I've shed over this problem - it really didn't help the moisture issue.
I've been skimming the comments so I may be a bit off but are we discussing jello mold?
Surgery's 2/3 LT, but I expect to be out of commission for the month. I'll be back in the office after a couple of weeks, but I won't be ready to wear party clothes until sometime in March probably.
Good idea about CVS, though, I've gone there seeking jello in the past to no avail. Perhaps today will be luckier.
Thanks for the suggestions!
When is Final Four weekend? If MSU goes, and it's likely, I'll be at the game, so I really don't want to schedule the conference for the same weekend. Please advise, and then I'll vote.
no more mold...hooray, LT!
i forgot a lunch today. but found out that i have a lunch meeting catered from corner bakery. that was close...can't wait for my free lunch.
La Choi, haven't you figured out that as a collective whole the WFLers are totally bi polar? It happened with our last survey too about how many bars we wanted to attend, what neighborhood we wanted, food requirements. We are messed up group of people. We are. And I love it!
Can you feel the love radiating off of me today?
OK, I have been informed that the first weekend listed is Final Four weekend. My boys are going all the way this year, so I won't even be in Chicago that weekend. Final Four weekend is sacrosanct, people! How could you not have recognized this?!
I did recognize it and therefore voted for the 5th. Blame Jo. He wants to be in Chicago for the Sox game on the 2nd.
I recognized that the final four was that weekend as well, which is why I amended my earlier endorsement for this weekend yesterday and suggested the weekend afterwards. 4/7-4/9
Don't forget about the NIT. :(
I had fully forgotten about the NIT until you reminded me Lester. There is a reason it is called the Nobody Interested Tournament, after all.
Back to names, and in particular the precarious nature of mine -- I need to figure this out. For right now, I'm good with Lester. I'm feeling very Lester-y these days, but this should be thoroughly vetted well before the conference. I've come up with a short, and by no means exhaustive, list of possibilities:
Dipso, Ball, Lee, Leon, Wind-Up, Nolan, Fartin' Jenny, Pearson '81 , and Uncle Sparkle.
I welcome any comments or suggestions. I'm not entirely opposed to putting it up for a vote.
Lester it is!
Chipotle always makes me want to take a nap, which is not an option today.
UNCLE SPARKLE!! UNCLE SPARKLE!! UNCLE SPARKLE!!
I had a feeling you would like that one, Tate.
So I stuck to the whole fruit plan for lunch. F Yinz I, Kiwi and cottage cheese -- bigtime no gooder.
You know, I don't often admit this: I don't like kiwi. I want to. Really, the flavor isn't bad, and, it's really pretty. I'm quite fond of the color, actually. It has a pleasant odor... but I hate those fucking seeds and that fruit has some serious texture problems.
And, why the hell does the world insist it goes with strawberry? Or, more precisely, kiwi flavoring goes with strawberry flavoring? Blecch.
UNCLE SPARKLE! UNCLE SPARKLE! UNCLE SPARKLE! I just love it so much - and it conjures this image that is so incongruous - I freakin' love it.
Uncle Sparkle gets my vote, too.
I feel like I am underwater.
I am imagining the "blog alias only" bar game during the Spring conference...
"Let me see Tatertot and Uncle Sparkle will have miller lights, lachoi a chardonnay, I think horsecock wants a gin & tonic..."
You know what, I believe that I've been faking it with kiwi. I hate that shit. I feel like I've been chewing on magnetic cat poop.
NO MORE!
(Your enthusiasm for U.S. is duly noted.)
Mmmm . . . I love kiwi. I love the texture and how, a couple hours after eating it, you find some seeds to snack on in the back of your teeth.
I totally agree about the strawberry-kiwi thing, though. 2 perfect fruits and then putting them together? No, it just lessens each fruit. In this case, the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. God, what a math nerd I am.
Just got back from Cafe Mozu in the Mandarin Oriental. DC people, you must try to get there. Soooooo good. And like Jade & her Chipotle, I need a nap now. Just to get you all drooling, here was the menu for me: yummy yummy bread with yummy olive oil, asian-y style caesar salad with this creamy dressing that was caesar, but with something extra - not soy or sesame oil. Not sure, but it was gooooood. Marinated beef with sticky rice and some sweet-ish kind of sauce. The best cheesecake I've ever had (lighter than normal cheesecake - also sweeter, which surprisingly wasn't too sweet), with some berries on the side. Only complaint with dessert: not enough berries. God, it was good. Oh, and green tea, so I'm "healthy". You know, with all the antioxidants & stuff. No folic acid, though, as far as I know.
Hee hee. Nobody Interested Tournament.
ok, 8 have now voted. i'm happy to say that now there is a clear want for the weekend of may 5 through 7. however, i am still going to leave it open until 6pm just in case. are there more than 8 people in our group? let's count:
lester
the jade
TatorTot
La Choi
josephus
horsecock
lizturtle
wait...did CSR vote yet???
we need votes from regular vistors too, like:
brian
spoilsport
watchdog
e-que
james
etc.
hmmm, i wonder if CSR is the 8th but just didn't bother to comment today. i could find out, but i'm too busy (or lazy) to be looking up IP addresses now.
It seems to me la choi that the 3/31-4/2 weekend should be changed to 4/7-4/9 since there were several objections lodged against it yesterday. But I just work here.
mmmmm midafternoon oatmeal
Always 1 packet of apple cinnamon and 1 packet of brown sugar. Its the only thing that keeps me going (since the loss of caffiene).
understood, josephus, but i didn't add it b/c it appeared that april was a bad month for LT. we didn't include mother's day weekend because of horsecock (pansy), so i figured it only fair.
however, if more want me to add in 4/7 to 4/9 if people are adamant about it. comment if you prefer to change your answer to this date instead of the one you put down in the survey. the people shall be heard.
wow, i just read my post and it doesn't make sense.
i meant to say i will add in 4/7 to 4/9 if people are adamant about it.
geesh.
NEW SURVEY INCORPORATING NEW DATE!!!
Click here to take survey again.
everyone happy now?
I voted. I'm happy. I want candy.
I voted and I want everyone to know that my vote does not represent any animus towards Lizturtle...in fact should the April date win I think we should have a WFL study hour for her. Flashcards and everything.
well, hopefully since it's early april, she can still come since her exam isn't until april 28th.
LT - have you voted yet?????
i had a ham sandwich from corner bakery with caesar salad. there's left overs in there, and i'm tempted to eat another sandwich. should i go for it? i have to eat now since i must be digested completely before yoga. not good to do inverted poses on a full stomach.
Notes on Jello.
LaChoi - there is no CVS on K between 17th and 18th. Which is fine.
The CVS on Penn & 19th - no jello. Not even in boxes. I would drink jello right now if I could.
The CVS on G - also no Jello.
There is not enough Jello in the world.
LT, I would throw a party for you as well about the mold. That is awesome. May your life be full of new sheet rock and the smell of fresh paint.
I've been there before.
Nice avatar James...
Thanks Jo.
how the tides do change...
seems as if this new april date is receiving a lot of WFL love. it is still early yet, but i do believe everyone has voted, except for CSR, who i've been told is on the road.
i hope that others can weigh in before 6pm EST. all the blog's official post-ers as well as most frequent visitors have voted. those who haven't voted are:
e-que
watchdog
brian
etc.
these people can definitely make a difference and are the last chance for the may people to catch up. vote vote vote!
CSR just got off a plane and asked me to put his vote for the May date.
To recap, CSR votes MAY
i just added CSR's vote. we're now a close 6-5 with the april date in the lead. if there's a tie, does madame TT break it?
To answer your question La choi I think at this point a tie vote would go to the executive committee for resolution.
Okay, as I'm sadly busy being Madame Directore, rather than Madame Presidente, I can't follow this as closely as I'd like.
But, I've been informed that Jo can't do the May dates. Sadly, he did not know this before today, when all the voting was going down.
I believe the rest of May is bad either b/c of Rico's mommy issues, or Jada's tests. The rest of April is bad b/c of LT's tests. But, I believe it would be wrong to hold this conference in Jo's absence.
Let's see how the voting comes out. We all are going to be busy at some point. BUt should this end in a tie the exec board will measure up everything and make a decision based upon maximum attendance and minimum discomfort.
I will protest any conference in which Jo is not in attendance.
