Chicago or DC?
If you are interested at all simply write the city name you prefer in the coments section of this post. Speak from your heart and soul, His Lunchiness begs you.

For those worried about offending people I refer you to this comment from a post written earlier:
The Jade said...
Blah blah blah... I don't want to carry over yesterdays emotional breakdown and debacle into today. If we need to put up a business post and talk about the conference [which I am still under the impression we are going to have, even if it is just Josephus and I] and executive matters, fine. Blah blah blah...
Blah blah... I thought about it last night for some time and I think DC might actually be a lot of fun. And it might even be good for me to get out of town and let the burden of entertaining and hostessing be on someone else. Of course, I would still be pleased as punch to have it in Chicago. But I would also be thrilled to go to DC.
Can the conference be salvaged?
Can the blog be salvaged?
I can't wait to find out!

at a staff retreat with HT and abs. i do not care at all where the conference is at. however, if i must pick, out of selfishness and convenience, i'd have to say DC.
My first choice is Austin BUT!!!
If I go to Chi-town TexEsq and I have relatives.
If I go to DC I have friends that are just as good as relatives (ok La Choi is better than most of mine).
Question is: Am I invited?

Switzerland...neutral grounds may be best at this point in time....
Did I say switzerland....I meant DC. It will be Jo's b-day weekend and there are some way hot girlies at Archibalds...
hater brings up a good point. and even though I would say Chicago does have bigger food and lots more of it, DC ain't no slouch.
Ben's Chili Bowl & Five Guys Burgers can stand up to any burger places around.
An authentic crabhouse lunch is something that can be done in DC but not in Chicago.
While Chicago has burrito joints on every corner, DC has a wider variety of International cuisine than Chicago with one hand tied behind it's back. And that's the truth, Ruth.
And as far as bars go, Chicago has 10,000 bars, that's about 9,700 more than DC. But DC happens to have some very impressive dive bars, including Angles, which I would put up against any bar in a "divey but not criminal" bar contest.
So while I love Chicago, LOVE IT, I have to defend the city I live in and was born in.
"DC: It ain't so bad".
Plus it's purtier and you'll be able to wear shorts.
Tickets are cheap on southworst to Chi-town. Anyone got a line on the best airline tix? I'm doing this for my own B-day (on the 9th).
to DC? the best airline to DC.
I am equally likely to go either place (or hell, NYC if that's being thrown in there), but for selfishness & convenience, I, too, would pick DC. Well, I'm slightlymore likely to go to DC, b/c even if I decide I can't go to the whole thing b/c of my exam, I would probably still take at least Saturday.
Hm. Wordy. to sum up: wherever.
I'm starving. I'm going to Mr. Hibachi for peanut sauce with something. Maybe beef? Maybe chicken? Maybe *just* peanut sauce with their fabulous sticky rice? It's all a mystery.
From Austin you can fly southwest into BWI.
I vote for Chicago.
I believe Chicago and DC are the choices. Period. If you wrote in some other candidate you have cast your vote and it was worthless and you cannot vote again.
Jo - Perfect.
Tickets were the only thing holding me back. Once you guys get this shit worked out let me know. I'll do either. I prefer Chi-town but not if HT can't make it because of hurts after the operation. I know LaChoi would likely not go without HT.
Jo, what is that picture from? The Rescuers?
Hmmm...I pick DC. Plus it'll be (as unicorn noted) my birthday weekend so I guarantee a better partying time.
To recap:
DC

The Jade
I see a pattern forming.
Do you think it would be possible for dizkonekid to actually make a decision and stop riding the fence?
Don't listen to the Jaded one kids. Feel free to clarify your vote.
I also think voting should be limited to people actually intending to attend.
Jo, you bumped my post!!!
I'm going to eat reheated scrambled eggs with syrup now.
Chicago.
Here's one Jaded!
Vote on the city you prefer and then tell us if you are absolutely not able to attend in other city.
That's a fine addendum Jo, but I think it has been said by some that they have no intnention of going to either, in which case it is pointless for them to be voting.
Ok!
Shaka when the walls fell?!?
Coffee apple and cigarette!
Mofongo?
Thanks E-que. In fact while I refuse to quit like so many others I am going to stop any conference talk. It's truly unfortunate that it became so contentious when the aim is to have fun. And I truly believed at one point yesterday that we had found a happy way to accomodate everyone. I was WAAAAY off. So no more conference talk from me until sanity returns.
As for my lunch, in my weakened emotional state I wandered into Wendy's and got a Big bacon classic with the side salad.
Growing faint with hunger . . . . Must finish this crap so I can go eat . . . Mr. Hibachi, is that you bringing me peanut sauce with sticky rice? It's like a vision of heaven . . . .
How could you go to Wendy's and not get fries, Jo? I love Wendy's fries, as far as fast food goes.
I drank some more tea for lunch and warmed up some of my chicken and vegetable soup but just ate a little bit. I called in sick to work and now I am going to go sleep a little bit more.
I would take The Old Town Ale Hous of 5 years ago over any bar on the planet. But the Old Town of today is not nearly as wonderful. I feel at home at Angles. So Angles wins.
Fine, I prefer Chi-town because and only because Rochelle has people there where we can stay.
I don't want to put anyone out in DC and would likely get a room somewhere. I know, I'm a cheap bastard but I'm trying to find a way Roche..TexEsq will actually go. She is super scepticle (rong speellng?) about this thing and thinks I'm a freak for trying to make friends online. There .. I said it. My grrlfriend thinks I'm crazy.
hey all!
so, i can send a survey out by tomorrow morning to make it more "scientific".
sorry that my real job took me away from my REAL job.
brain is fried. i'm gonna go now.
oh, i had an italian hoagie. it was good.
Mmmm...hoagie...
Jeez, a guy goes away for a few weeks and all hell breaks loose.
I vote for Bucker Park.
(lunch today was a chicken pomodori panini from The Corner Bakery)
As Maury Povich used to say, "Until next time America..."
Brian's Back!!!
And, I'm leaving. Surgery got moved up. See everyone soon!
Don't you leave again, Brian.
I'll be thinkin' "HaterTot," HaterTot...a lot.
