Off to Austin...

I'm outta here.
Please send Austin lunch ideas.
Enjoy the long weekend.
And of course, WFL?

Ah, Austin - how I love thee. I'd highly recommend Guero's on S. Congress - just awesome. I never made it to Manuel's but thought Iron Cactus was pretty tasty. Not as tasty as Guero's though. I also liked Vivo in W. Austin. Super tasty - but you'd need a car.

TX bbq is beef based and not saucy; usually sauce on the side. Stubbs is decent and in town; Ruby's and Saltlick are farther afield.

I've never been, but Threadgill's is also supposed to be quite good.

As for me, I'm an open book. I'm freakin' exhausted today, but hungry. I'm not sure what I'm in the mood for.

I'd like to go for a jog and smoke some dope for lunch...but I'll probably have subway.

i must go into a meeting with ass-face at 1pm, meaning that the entire time, i will be dreaming of what i can eat afterwards. in fact, it may be the only thing i can look forward to during the entire day. therefore, suggestions are much appreciated. WFL? save this poor soul from going postal.

I think Potbelly might be on the agenda. Though, I'm desperate for a freakin' burger. Why are there no decent take out burgers near here???? Why? Dammit... Why???

Wow. Is that our first Popeye's lunch? I love Popeye's, but it doesn't seem like lunch to me.

I still haven't eaten. Clearly I'm going downstairs now, b/c I am so lazy.

But, given my druthers, I'd be having someone deliver me a burger from Five Guys and fries. Yummmmmmm...

We talked Popeyes way back in the beginning. I remember a discussion about people having not-so-"chickeny" experiences, or something like that.

I was one such person, and I think I'm pretty much sworn off of Popeyes for good. There's a lot of really good fried out there...I think I might pick up some Harolds on the way home, actually.

SUCCESS! ethics and i finally sought out food at 3pm. we went to the ole fav: breadline. sausage sandwich, which we both noted was a bit too skinny and should've included 2 to compensate for the brioche surrounding it. but of course their fries RULE so that made up for it all.

Eff that shit, man. I love me some foie gras. Plus, I got bit by a goose when I was a kid, so those fuckers deserve to be fattened up and slaughtered for their tasty innards.

Hell, I hate birds. I think I'm going to cook up some Tur-Duck-en, stuff that bitch with foie gras and serve with Hungarian pheasant soup and quail eggs on the side. That's some good eatin' right there, my friends.

In other, non poultry news, La Choi and I hit the ever tasty, ever reliable Breadline for some Merguez Sangays (sangay = sandwich) and a little tunisian salad and the best fries in DC. Tasty, but the bread and salad dwarf the sausage, which needs to be of greater girth, or which should be served two at a time.

I'm ready to lie on my couch, drink wine and watch the OC now. But alas, I need to work on my expenses before that delicious dream can come to fruition.

Yes, dipso - we did discuss the not-so-chicken-y-ness of Popeyes. Still, I'm a fan. KFC, not so much.

I don't know of this Harold's of which you speak.

foie gras is the shiz man. sure it does sound cruel, but so is eating meat in general. but we are at the top of the food chain, so the underlings must accept their fate.

besides, this would sooo limit what we'd eat for lunch. that cannot happen.

on a cheerier note, potbelly is having a food drive tuesday, november 15th in all of its store locations. bring 3 non-perishable food items to the store and you get a FREE SANDWICH! i know where i'll be eating lunch on tuesday...mmm a wreck with spicy peppers is tasty indeed.
