Blog Early and Often

Good morning! I know 9:30 is a little early for some lunchtime blogging, but my day is full and this will be my last chance before lunch to execute my Presidential duties.

I have a meeting today in Fairfax, of all unGodly places (might as well be in Ohio) to talk about two things very near and dear to me: children and the development of their character. What's that you say? "Ethics doesn't care about dorky high school kids and whether they Do the Right Thing or not," you, sir, would be correct, so you can tell how much I'm looking forward to the day. Travelling outside the Beltway, kids, and morals - jeez, what's NOT to be excited about. (did I mention the meeting is with one guy who I don't trust and another who is cheap - yeah, this is the meeting that just keeps getting better)

At least they're serving lunch, but knowing our host, it will probably be ramen all around or some shit.

So folks, weigh in - delight me with your tales of not having to drive to the burbs and endure a lunch meeting. WHAT'S FOR LUNCH???

I planned on brownbagging it today, but I forgot the leftover Zatarain's Dirty Rice with sausage at home.

So I am going to make a trip to the Daily Market for either the Recess Club or the Sensa Fundo (their version of an Italian sub).

Welcome Sinecure. Thanks for joining us. We have been very succesful (so far) on this blog with keeping politics and lunch seperate. I personally believe that lunch is on a much higher plane of existence than the petty disagreements of the world. Which brings me to your question, I cannot answer it without knowing what is on the "Young Republican". For that matter what is on the "Young Democrat"?

I'm with you CSR, I NEVER bring my own lunch. That would require planning and foresight. Plus it opens up a world of options if you leave the bag at home.

And as for your dilemna on whether you'd ever eat a "young republican", I have two words for you:

Jenna Bush

I too would be interested to know what the ingredients are on these sandwiches.

But more importantly, I would like to know what the management of the Lawson's organization was thinking when it decided to make lunch a partisan issue? Does it mean that because a tomato is included on "the other side's" sandwich, that I now have to write tomatoes off altogether? Dear God, I hope not.

Now, I would say that I would not be dissuaded from engaging in a lunchtime tete a tete with a sandwich, simply because of how it's labeled. As I have friends from across the political spectrum - in fact, with more representatives from the "other side" as it were, than from my own, I do not judge by virtue of what side of the aisle we sit. Therefore, I would consider that particular sandwich, in its totality and choose accordingly.

la choi, I think you should hit up Potbelly. Grab a sandwich and a shake and get back to work!

Oh, lunch was Baja Fresh take out fajita bar type deal over an annoying meeting with an old guy who chewed with his mouth open.

So Young Democrats are stinky and fall into the category of things that I adamantly refuse to allow to be eaten in my office space?

Interesting indeed.

I will report that La Choi is now leaving the office for a 20 minute break.

Ethics, where exactly would you eat a Young Democrat?

HaterTot said...

In the privacy of my own home, of course. Behind tightly closed doors and windows, preferably under a sheet, with a hole cut in it for that express purpose.

And only for the purposes it was intended: nourishment. Never for the sheer enjoyment of it.

I'm not sure if I should be blushing, sweating, or reciting the Torah.

Okay, I've got all the answers, now. My curiousity piqued, and because I'm a go after it kind of President, I called Lawsons.

First, they do not have a Young Democrat. The sandwich with the tuna salad, bacon and havarti on white sourdough is simply The Democrat.

Second, the Young Republican is Chicken Salad and Bacon on Rye.

I'm curious about the lack of cheese on the YR, but I was told I could have it for an additional charge.

Clearly I would be favoring the YR as opposed to the Dem, since chicken salad trumps tuna salad in every way. I also respect a bare bones sandwich, where each individual chooses for him/herself whether they'd like to add on services that they deem necessary - like cheese.

I may even make the trek to Lawson's for lunch tomorrow to scoop up one these trasty treats. Who's with me for some bipartisan lunching?
