Ruthie was almost all growed up, too!
I need some comfort food.
Everybody mark the 30th Anniversary of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald appropriately? I had a couple Edmund Fitzgerald Porters (a fine brew from the Great Lakes Brewing Co.) and, of course, Lightfoot. I teared up.

Hahahahahah you're all AT work. I'm on my couch stealing wireless from my neighbors.
I'll take this moment to mention that I actually know Edmund Fitzgerald. Way back when Edmund Fitz sr. was the Pres. and CEO of Northwest Mutual Life Insurance Company. As was the practice at the time, the insurer named the boat. He named his after his kid - Edmund Fitzgerald.
Ed is the fomer CEO of Nortel Networks, and sits on the Board of my former employer. He now resides in Nashville and teaches the occasional class at Vanderbilt. Lovely man, if a bit old and crotchety, but lovely nonetheless. He once wrote a book from the perspective of a dog on the island of Curacao, where Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald spend their winters. Also, he answers his own phone, which freaked me out on my first day of work, which prompted me to hang up on him.
But, I digress. I'm starvin' like Marvin, and I've got shit all in my house. The interwebs tell me it's cold out, so I'm not eager to leave the couch. I'm thinking of ordering chinese. Either Chow Fun or maybe Wonderful Flavors chicken. Thoughts?
General Tso's Chicken (Get it? Veteran's Day? "General.")
Pretty cool Ed story.
AND...Veteran's Day, my eye. What a load of crap. Even if they closed the office, I'd go to work anyway.
When I worked for the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Fund, I used to have work at the Wall on Vets Day and Memorial Day. Nothing against Vets, but my couch is so much more rockin'.
But, I forgot the power cord for my laptop, and my dsl isn't back on yet, so I sign off for today, b/c my battery is near death.
Happy lunching, kids!
very cool ed story, ethics. too bad even after that lovely story, i still have no clue still who the hell that guy is...i am dense today.
lunch was so-so today. red curry shrimp thai rice bowl from trader joes (i won't eat frozen foods from anywhere else really.) however, i find myself still hungry. it's b/c there just wasn't enough grease to appease the beast within.
