NEWS FLASH!!!!
Mondays suck ass.
Especially after a weekend of tex mex in Austin. Several satisfying meals with only one real mis-step which was quicly evacuated (ahem.). Had some of the tastiest brisket and potatoes ever. A thousand thanks to J & Mel for getting married in Austin so I could experience it. Oh and congrats on getting married too.
I'm sorry I missed the Edmund Fitz tribute on Friday, as Dipso can tell you that song holds a special place in my heart. Don't mess with Gitche Gumee.
As a trbiute to Eddie Guererro, who passed this weekend, I was originally going to get some sort of Mexican dish for lunch. But after an entire weekend of breakfast tacos and evacuated chorizo I think I am going for a salad today.
It's good to see the new folks are contributing to blog so regularly. Invite friends.
So anyway...WFL?
And for Eddie...LATINO HEAT!!

A special shout out to Guerro's Taco Bar in Austin!
Hey!!! Link me up, suckers!
mmm tacos. it's tough to find good tex mex in this godforsaken city! but on a different note, ethics and i finally had some mongolian bbq saturday night. and though it wasn't technically lunch, i think that it deserves mention and a review.
anyways, back to the subject at hand, i do need advice on what would be yummy lunch today. i'm feeling inspired by jo's tex mex story. (except for the evacuation part, which unfortunately also happened to some folks saturday night after m-bbq...they just don't have stomachs of steal like ethics and i!)
so, yeah, WFL???? i need your wisdom.
The delicious BBQ brisket and potatoes were actually at the wedding reception, which was held on a ranch about 45 minutes from Austin in Georgetown, TX.
Guerro's and Las Mannitas were the two main tex mex spots we hit in the city.
We also spent some time at a place called Daddy's which is basically the 6th street BW3.
The Hickory bar and grill got a visit and provided the chorizo evacuation story.
And also in reference to Dipso's lament about 7th Heaven, I just heard that Arrested Development may be on the chopping block as well. I can't think of a greater crime (besides fox news) that Rupert Murdoch could commit against humanity.
SAVE THE BLUTHS!
I think I'm skipping lunch. I'm not in the mood today. And I have an appointment at 1:45. And, I'm just not that hungry.
I really need sleep. This was not AT ALL the restful weekend I'd hoped for.
I had a regular salad for lunch.
But had some awesome dinner over the weekend. Who likes garlic? Cuz this place started out with fresh bread and garlic butter. Mussels cooked in garlic as an app. Then pesto pizza for me, and sirloin braised in garlic for her, along with a garlic mashed potatoes. Its okay to have stinky garlic breath so long as the person you'll be kissing also has stinky garlic breath, you're immune.
Where was dinner, watchdog?
I'm still not hungry. Weird, eh? I also think I'm going to start working out a little at lunchtime. Nothing serious, just a half hour on the eliptical or something. Combined with my back to the gym mentality, I think this will be good. I think LaChoi and I drunkenly discussed the brilliance of this plan, and we decided that we were geniuses.
So I think no lunch for ethics today. Another diet coke, perhaps. And, I'm working on the Mongolian bbq review.
Ethics,
The place was called the Beer Market, which I could love based on name alone, but they also seem obsessed with garlic, so they got me hooked. However, the place was located in Windsor, Ontario. So unless you find yourself in Detroit and looking for some cross-border action, I doubt you'll ever have the opportunity.
I will keep it in mind watchdog. Some of the Detroit/Canuckistani members of my posse have been encouraging that trip, so my turning up in Windsor is by no means out of the realm of worldly possibility.
Hey kids! Man, I've had a lot of limes to cut today. Sorry for my dilatory appearance.
I had turkey pastrami on rye today from the ol' GP, but that's not what I came to tell you about.
Goddamn I love chicken salad! I made myself two different chicken salads for lunch Saturday and Sunday. A honey mustard and a curry with grapes and almonds. Seriously, I think that shit is WAY underrated. You can do so many things with it just by tweaking the way you cook the chicken. I encourage everyone to go out and buy a couple of breast and get creative. Tonight I was thinking about doing a lime juice, soy sauce and sesame oil marinade, but maybe I should hold off. I don't want to get sick of it.
Dipso,
I love Chicken salad. A few weekends ago I got home around 2:30 am from drinking and made a bbq sauce/mayo based chicken salad using some broiled chicken from the night before. I added onion, relish, chopped tomato, horseradish and lots of cayenne.
It was delicious for 2:30 am.
